Patriots Rumors: Eliot Wolf ‘Pushing Hard’ For This QB Prospect

Little worried that the people who liked Mac will forego a strong arm for a weaker arm just based on poor play last season.

Im always reminded that Dan Marino as a junior was the sure fire #1 pick in the draft. He went back to college for his final year. Then after a bad senior year, he dropped to the end of the 1st round.
Wasn’t there some drug allegations threw in there as well? Probably started by the Dolphins.

Daniels threw 40 tds granted he's had some good wrs. Hope it's not like Mac
My take on Daniels and as I have said I am a hack at evaluating NFL talent

My concerns are he had 2 1st round WR’s and a very good OLine
You can’t blame him for that
He has incredible wheels and a decent arm

My concerns are his durability in the NFL. Much different than College. They are faster and bigger. Your running lanes close real fast. When they hit you they want you to remember them next time you try to take off.
He also only had 18 completions over the middle of the field last year. Could have been the system. But alarming considering it is a must in the NFL to work the middle of the field
His pressure to sack ratio is high even with a very good OLine. Might have been they liked the deep ball at LSU and he had to hold it longer

Saying all that he could easily be the best one out of the bunch.

What bait??? Washington picks ahead of us, they can take whomever they want.
For the same reason why Baker Mayfield rose up draft boards from the 4th or 5th QB to #1 after it was rumored NE was interested in him.

Pats may actually want Daniels. if more teams hype up McCarthy, Washington may rethink who they want to take. The draft among teams is one big poker game.

it’s worth keeping in mind the Pats sent a much bigger contingent of front office personnel to Daniels and Maye’s pro days than Mccarthy’s. That has to mean something. I just don’t buy that they pick McCarthy at 3 over Daniels or Maye.

If you look at his senior year stats, that's the biggest reason.

After throwing 32 TDs his junior year, he threw 17 with 22 INTs his senior year. 4.7 yards average per attempt.

My gut tells me that we take Drake Maye, then a stud WR1 in round 2.

Sit Maye a year as we build up the O line in the next draft/FA and Maye develops.

They need to excite the fanbase, I'll eat my hat if they trade down.

That’s nuts. Didn’t realize that.

Washington is taking Maye.

It’s Daniel’s, McCarthy, Harrison Jr, Alt or a trade down.

If it’s anything other than this formula at pick 3 I will be livid.

I’ll take Daniels. McCarthy if he’s the target, Harrison Jr for sure. Getting harder and harder to think they may be able to trade back and still get Alt with Harbaugh comments the other day.

There is absolutely 0 chance we take a player at 3 other than QB.

It’s gonna be a QB at 3 and if the one we want isn’t there then we will trade down.

I saw someone’s mock draft this morning that had the Redskins selecting McCarthy with the 2nd pick. Could he have impressed teams that much?
If I was the Redskins GM and knew about Wolf's lust for JJ, I would drop a rumor bomb that I was going draft JJ hoping to snooker Wolf into trading up. Or is that too devious?

My Take: I hope this is not true

I agree Sammy, and I don’t buy the rumor. If you are the person with the final say on the draft pick then you don’t have to push anything. You just listen to others who actually are pushing for one player or another, and then make your decision.

Subterfuge is indeed the correct word.

Any info coming from a team other than Chicago should be dismissed. Chicago is the only team that had no reason to deceive anyone regarding their pick.

But teams aren't the only sources with lots of $$$kin in the game. Agents will be very aggressive in trying to get their guys rumored to be higher picks. The money difference is significant.

And really, if it was discovered that some of the "top analysts" (meaning the ones most prolific on the media circuit) had taken some money to pump a kid or even to maybe throw a few warts at another rival kid, would you be surprised?

More than likely in 10 years we'll look back and say 'we should have known that MHJ was the best player in this draft'.

All of his on field play has suggested he's gonna be a legit #1 WR in the NFL.

If we could draft Harrison JR then then trade back up for a QB could we get back in the top 15 with 34 our second next year and Judon or Dugger?

If the Pats take JJ I have no issue with that. He's very young, very talented and could easily be molded into something. Played in big games, played in the cold. I'd be excited with the pick BUT at #3? He might be gone by pick #4.

I an unsettled about who to take at three... I really have doubts about the contenders - Maye & Daniels... I would prefer Daniels, but I think Washington is going to take him at 2.

If the plan is to sit the new quarterback regardless, then sure, why not, draft a project... We brought Biscuit back for a bridge year, right?

Might as well use the high pick for a foundation piece (Left Tackle) or trade down and amass picks to fill more holes with quality rookie depth... Spend the year developing JJ & the new additions... isn't that the strength of Mayo? player development? Then lets put that to the test. Until he proves differently, I trust in his ability to coach guys up. Has done a great job on the defensive guys, don't doubt his ability to do the same with offensive players.
