I truly think something is up.. I think we are going to get AN ELITE WR in here. Allen is nice player, but often injuries plays half a season on average. For now I'd take Hollywood brown and Mike Williams on the outside.

Early in the season they were not playing Onwenu at right tackle which is where a lot of the problems for Mac were coming from - he was seeing the pressure coming off the right side overwhelming the traffic cone playing at that spot and freaking out. They later moved Onwenu there and it solidified things - he wasn't perfect but he brought roughly B- level pass protection which was a big step up. But Mac never really improved and still played like he was seeing ghosts - he ran away from pressure that didn't exist often.

Obviously there's a hole at LT, and Trent Brown was playing well early on last year, but injuries hit later and he missed games, and even when he returned his effort was very inconsistent. So I don't really think that the overall OL as it exists today (assuming Okorafor is the current LT) is demonstrably worse than the OL that they were fielding in front of Zappe the last few games of 2023, and I don't think that OL was really that piss poor. Was it good? No but it was like, C or C+. It can get the job done if your QB is competent and Brissett is competent.

I do think an LT upgrade is still warranted though regardless because there's no depth - Okorafor ideally would be the depth guy.

I think the biggest issue they had the first half of last season was Strange being out and having to play Mafi there. Mafi is a strong run blocker but a total sieve in pass protection. Plus we lost Andrews for a game or two, Onwenu for 3-4 games, and I think Trent missed a game. Anderson and McDermott were in and out. Sow as a rookie was being moved around cause he was the only healthy one. That was as bad/unstable as things could get. Klemm probably developed a heart condition the first half of last season.

When everyone got healthy things got somewhat better, but Strange was never really himself and missed more time, so LG was a big issue all last season. Also toward the end of the year, Trent Brown and the coaches become outright antagonistic toward each other and it doesn't sounds like it's any better now. It would probably make sense to re-sign him if that could be fixed, but I kinda doubt it. LT at the moment has some candidates, it's possible one could step up: Anderson, Oko, McDermott, Wheatley, Steuber (I doubt Lowe makes the team).

I've accepted reality at this point and am not expecting any exciting moves. We're onto the draft and 2025.

This should tell us that, either way, we likely won't be able to land one of the top QB's by trading down. Have to envision Vikings trade up to 4-5, if not 3. Makes pairing with the Giants a little more tricky.

I have a suspicion that they called Wolf about #3 and he told them to call back when they have a better offer. So now they will be calling back.

very possible. At 11 take Penix. At 23 take one of several good OT's - eg Guyton. At 34 take a WR.

…and to add : the Viking could be starting Darnold while the rookie sits. That screams out top 3 pick for 2025.

Joey I sense your anxiety what if the Giants throw a curveball and pass on QB?? I think Drew Lock is fixed he's only 27.

I do wonder if the all the word out of the Patriots camp about how much they love the top 3 QBs, how much they're all worth a top 3 pick, how much they're definitely taking one of them at 3 - is just smoke. In reality they might only like 1 and know they probably won't get him so they want to trade down but don't want to seem desperate and instead want a robust trade offer. So they have to make the market look strong for the pick. If that's the case, probably wise to trade the pick earlier before anyone knows with too much certainty who will be available at 3.

If they grade Maye/Daniels similarly to Nix/McCarthy then this would be wise posturing. Or even if they don't really think any of them after Caleb or whomever are high 1st round candidates, then even still.
