Pre-Free Agency 2023

Kirk is way better and more consistent sorry...Meyers is not worth $15 Mill BB the GM will not give him that.
Kirk had a functional OC, he, like agholor did here in 2021 FA- took the money Jax offered him.. he's a good number #2 on a team..

My under the radar binkie in free agency is Tremaine Edmunds. He still has the rep of being crappy in coverage although he was great this year. So most of the free agent lists have him a lot lower than his value. And he is only 25. And let’s face it, ILB is a fairly big need for the Pats.

What Myers has is the ability to run routes and get open.. he has amazing hands.. it's nice to have elite speed and athletic ability like say Hardman, but he can't get open and route run.. Myers can. He's a guy thay came up in the system I see his value here in NE rather than any place else.. I can see a 3y/24 million deal for Myers
That's less than what Deion Branch signed for.

18 years ago when the cap was half of what it is now.

Under the radar? What? How is Edmunds "under the radar"? He has been discussed at length on PatsFans.

There was No buzz around him before the draft... I had to look up his name after I heard it being called... Dude's a Nobody.
showed nothing before the draft

has shown enough since to be an emergency backup on the 53
=================
there is no reason to think that he will a more major than a new free agent or new draftee

To be blunt, his 22 reps on Defense and 7 of Special Team don't really make him a strong candidate to replace TOP STARTER McCourty.

We have a serious NEED at safety. Re-signing Peppers is only part of the solution.

agree... he is not "under the radar"
first round draft pick at #16, huge and fast.....

"under the radar" is an undrafted free agent that only the local beat reporters know anything about

Dude was drafted so young, he’s still only 24. He’s gonna break bank. Bills will probably keep him, causing everyone to lose their damn minds.

Spielberger’s article with contract projections for the top 100 free agents. Here are the Patriots players, and you can all look up your external targets too.

7. WR Jakobi Meyers: Four years, $64 million ($16M per year); $40 million total guaranteed

31. CB Jonathan Jones: Two years, $11 million ($5.5M per year); $7 million total guaranteed

56. OT Isaiah Wynn: Two years, $21 million ($10.5M per year); $13.75 million total guaranteed

94. S Devin McCourty: One year, $8 million; $7 million total guaranteed

Seems low for Jones. At that point, the Patriots should just bring him back and worry about where he’s actually playing later (outside, slot, and FS all valid options). I do agree that somebody is going to pay Wynn decent money due to the scarcity of tackles.
Spotrac market values:

Meyers: $12.5M avg / 4 yr $50M
J Jones: $12.5M avg / 2 yr $25M
I Wynn: $15.4M avg / 5 yr $77.1M
D McCourty: no info but vet minimum seems about right.

These seem more realistic. Wynn seems high but there's a high demand for tackles and very few good ones available. Orlando Brown is the best LT available ($22.4M) and McGlinchey at RT ($10.7M).

Orlovsky must've said he was under the radar so it must be true.

I am talking about how he isn’t discussed at a national level. I have yet to see a list of free agents where he is in the top 20 free agents. In many lists, he isn’t even in the top 25-30.

He is better known here because he is in the division and he has had some of his best games of his career against the Patriots.

OK. Got it. Thanks. Hopefully Edmunds is relatively cheap. Billy Beane, the Bills GM, was saying the Bills do not have a QB on a rookie contract so the salary cap is a squeeze. Hopefully the Bills lose Edmunds and Poyer. I would prefer Edmunds and a rookie FS draft pick. I think this year has a few good FS in the draft (not 2nd round).

McCourty needs to be cut!! period.

He is a liability, brings nothing but cap space to the table. His last contract voided, so he still counts for $9.7 million on the 2023 cap. Thats right, a guy who isn't under contract has the sixth largest cap hit for the Pats next year. The Pats need to cut him with a June 1 designation which will spread his cap hit over the next two years.

Signing him to these bloated back ended contract these last few years was a giant mistake, one that can finally end.
