Curran: Patriots will be "extremely and uncharacteristically" aggressive in Free Agency

Getting Randy Moss and Wes Welker wasn't aggressive though- Moss's value actually lowered in 2006 because of his play in Oakland, and Welker was not a big name free agent either.
Dude they loaded up that offseason.

Keep in mind they also landed Donte Stallworth, Sammy Morris, Kyle Brady and Adalius Thomas- #1 FA on D that year for big money.

Regarding Reiss's tweet, Stallworth was actually the big prize in FA, not Wes Welker (trade). Nobody knew who the heck Welker was. In fact, I remember people were scratching their heads with the Pats giving up a 2nd rounder. . Adalius Thomas was also the big prize in FA who was known to not only get after QB's, but could also cover. Moss was the icing on the cake and put them over the top as favorites.

One day it’s Carr being moved, now it’s Carr is the darling. Get ready folks, gonna be a whole lot of attaching the Pats to any QB that walks this offseason. Sooner or later, someone is going to be right....right?!

*Also would like to add that I wouldn’t want to see them give up anything higher than a future 4th. Guy has a hard time staying healthy, and really hasn’t done much since all the promise he showed his first few years. Go low on a trade and draft your guy high.

Mariota is freaking awful.
Looked great against the Chargers but has been largely mediocre otherwise. Carr has hade a much better career.

I don’t disagree with this, but if he’s going with Brissett or a comparable QB then it makes no sense to spend their $$$$ on offensive skill positions, but I could see them drafting them so they are ready when they have their franchise caliber QB. And if they are going with the lesser QB then I think they will let Thuney walk and release Chung and Bolden, and I think Cannon will retire. In this scenario I would focus on building the defense and looking for the QB of the future.
I agree. I think we should let this season be towards building a defense first team and then look into building the offensive playmakers in 2022. Get creative and try to get the tight ends and receivers some experience . A bridge Qb and couple of quarterback projects to see if we get lucky. And in 2022 sign the best available free agent qb or draft the heir apparent.

Very rarely do we see free agents shining in New team. Most long term starters have been draft choices. To be honest I wouldn't mind us crapping up for 2021. I know it's not a great attitude, but better to build a young team and hope the team learns to swim by end of season. Taht way we are stronger in 2022.

Mobile, Athletic, good arm strength, good team guy never complained or caused issues.
Untapped potential for higher ceiling.

a more balanced view about how aggressive Bill will be

I have a feeling it’s going to be Trubisky or Jimmy playing qb next season.

I don't think 49ers are moving from Jimmy.

Belichick and trubisky both have a point to prove . So it could be an uncanny marriage . A 2 year contract with 1 year guaranteed. Belichick might make trubisky a game manager and see how he does while beefing up the oline and defense for a run first team.

That’s what they do when they have cap space. They just have rarely had it to use.

Belichick is unquestionably the GOAT. He has nothing to prove.

I think BB has a plan and we'll see it unfold in the next few months.
