JC Jackson poised for even larger contributions in 2020 following breakout sophomore season in the Patriots secondary.

According to PFF, “since 2018, he has been targeted 29 times 20 or more yards downfield, on those plays, he has allowed just three receptions compared to six interceptions and 10 forced incompletions.”
Allowing three catches and having six takeaways on 29 targets is not too shabby.

You ever just close your eyes and wait for the first thought that appears about a player?

For me and JC it was big PI calls.

Reading his impressive stats now such as not giving up a TD all year it seems like I need to give him some respect.

He has a lot of promise.

Agreed.

It also helps if you are mostly covering the #2 or #3 guy. Gilmore blanks the #1, J Jones covers the speedy receivers, and McCourty/JC covers the other guys. I am guessing that helps the stat sheet.

Having said that, I love JC and I respect the way he carries himself and always comes ready to compete. He is going to be a very rich man soon.

Pats haven't been this loaded in the secondary ever.

I had a nice chuckle at the grocery store looking at the "Lindy's" magazine and they didn't rank the Pats secondary #1.......it was the LA Chargers. o_O They have a good secondary but no team is as deep as NE. Not even close.

He's in the last year of his undrafted rookie FA deal. Is there a chance in hell we keep him in 2020?

He stays, but leaves after this year as a team will pay him to be their #1 or #2 CB.

No we lock him up BB will pay a lot of money for a shut down corner BB will break the bank for secondary.

Even with Gilmore there breaking the bank, and Williams waiting in the wings?

He will be a RFA not an UFA after three years with the Pats. So he stays at the Pats for 2020 and 2021. He is more expensive in 2021 (because the Pats have to retain him under his RFA status) but still reasonable. After that he replaces Gilmore who moves on, or Gilmore re-signs, and JC moves on.
I am not a good enough talent scout to know the right move. I doubt we can keep both as UFAs in 2022.

I like him alot and I'm sure he's 'focused', and Sanu has a huge chip on his shoulder, and JE11 is pissed, and the entire D has something to prove, and BB is giddy.... Who are we now? Miami? Welcome to the new offseasons.

It's amazing how well Belichick does with UDFA DBs (Butler, Jones & Jackson), yet how incredibly bad he does in the draft with DBs. He literally was trolling the fans by trading down from the 1st round to get a 2nd round DB this year (though he may have found a good one). His legendary 2nd round bust DBs are almost statistically impossible. I expect a 2nd round DB every year, even when we don't have a 2nd round pick.

But man, he hits homes runs with those UDFA DBs. I loved Butler, Jones gives us great speed in secondary, as well as an excellent special teams player, and Jackson has been awesome. Jackson may wind up being the best of them all.
