2020 NFL Draft Big Boards

I was a bit surprised Young didn't grade out higher tbh. I thought he'd get 9-something. Ended up higher than Nick Bosa but yea a little surprised by that.

As far as your second question I'm not quite sure I understand it.

I don't really change much from year to year. Year's back when I first started I only went off film & my gut. Around 2013-14, I started using simple test results from the combine/pro Day. Basically grade a player from a position pov & an athletic profile. Average those and I get what I get. Haven't changed it since.

Bobby D looked at them last year, there's a thread here somewhere. I want to compare them to others though. TB helmet looked at mine and the NFL using the AV value from pro football reference. It would be nice to have some sort of accurate take on draft grades.

It's a huge event, hobby & business. But so little is known about who really does well at projecting prospects.

It's different than what teams do during the draft. Teams have a select # of picks. Sometimes scattered throughout the draft in less than ideal order. GM's have a different task. People don't distinguish that enough or even at all that I've seen.

But every year there's a ton of people who do this as well. It would nice to have some type of formula or scale you can use to see who does well. Would only shed light and provide info on the process. Which is far from perfect, so again I think it would be cool.
I'm hoping to eventually look at other grades

I appreciate your detail. My second question was just basically "would a 9.0 guy (on your table) from 2016 be a 9 in 17, 18, 19, 20?"

Yup. Doesn't change.

I try to get specific as possible on that particular prospect. Don't even look at it as rankings. Don't look at the other prospects or the depth of the class.

Thank you really appreciate it. I would confirm with the most ratings you given and understand why Davis for example has a lower rating compared to Fotu which is a bit different to some big boards. But can you explain how love got his rating ?

To me his good is worth gambling on. Young enough to sit and shake that last year out his head. He'll be around superior talent and coaching which were issues.

I said it all year, he played hero ball. Tried to turn it on & off when he wanted. Didn't show the patience you wanted to see play to play and in general. Lead to some really poor decision making.

He needs a mentor. A coach and a player. Someone to kick his ass from both ends.

He's not all arm talent but it's a huge selling point and you bet on arm talent. You can get lucky and improve elsewhere but your arm doesn't transform into something he has.

If he puts it together he's the perfect QB for the EP.

But who should be his mentor here as a player. I think at best it would be a qb but we don't really have this here or do you can see Hoyer as a mentor? I reconn that some of our vets could be a mentor but not for a qb or do you mean just mentally a mentor?

I am also little concerned that his numbers went down a lot after new coaches and players. I mean Utah doesn't play in a hard conference and a qb should be able to adapt a new system when he is a first round prospect.

Slater, DMC, White, Josh .. There's no shortage of guys for that job. Doesn't have to be an offensive guy. Just someone to take him under their wing for a short time.

He should have played better. No way around it. That said he's an immature player which isn't the worst thing in the world. He basically went from structure, support & familiarity. To being put in a spot he wasn't ready for. I don't think Burrow, Tua and others would have done much better though. Remember Burrow was struggling to get in the field when Love was tearing it up at a younger age.

There's a lot you have to look at. The key is staying objective on the prospect. His skill set/qualities, trajectory ...

Yeah I don’t value burrow that high as well. But still a lot of INT‘s from Love were really bad decisions no matter who the receiver was as you mentioned as well. I hope that the reason for this was that he wanted to carry his team and force it, but I can just guess. Would you take him at 23 if he is available or maybe trade a few spots up to get him ?

He didn't play well for sure and could have had more INTs.

Honestly depends on who's available. I'd definitely do it Rd 2. Late Rd1.

I do lile him tho and he'd be in a great situation here.

I hoped for a defense playmaker but changed a bit. Hopefully we can get a playmaker in our offense, since even the best defense can’t stop the best offense. What would you prefer ? I know it really depends who is there .

Jefferson, Kinlaw, Reagor, Ruiz, Henderson ... Wouldn't hate YGM. Maybe I'm forgetting some one but it's a short list. Trade back.

For Ruiz I would try to trade a bit down and get him end of first or sth. . Murray i like for us as well. Reagor would be great. I can see Henderson kinlaw top 13. or trade down and get Baun or Epenesa

Officially done. Right around 300 prospects, give or take. 10th year

This is fun, thanks.
You (and others) aren't kidding when you say this is a deep year for WR! There will be "second round graded" players available in the 5th round this year, just based on numbers and how the chaos usually plays out.

Thank you. I believed you asked me a question the other day about a tweet. I didn't want that thread ending up in chaos bc of trolls so I asked to shut it down. No time for that.
Anyway If I remember correctly I think the big take away is draft capital matters. Where you get drafted matters a great deal in terms of your success.
I'd be careful about drafting a WR early unless he's a prototype freak in almost every way.
Drafting RBs early might not be as bad as I say it is. @TB_Helmet mentioned this to me as well when going over draft data. Definitely will have to look into that more.

If I was Bill it would be hard not to trade into the 2nd pick up an extra pick. Sweet spot in this draft is 2nd/3rd/4th round for sure. Multiple 3's & 4's is great!
