Patriots trade for WR Mohamed Sanu, for a second-round pick

Watson exceeded my expectations last night.

I was encouraged too. He's going to need some time to get his game legs under him, but it was no coincidence that the TE suddenly became a much more involved part of the passing game with him in there. His blocking on the first (second?) Michel TD was solid too. He's a good piece to have.

Another clue is to why Sanu is that Schiano ran the NE offense at Rutgers.

IIRC, BB paid him a visit or two during their training camp.

I missed the GDT thread last night, but this feels about the same.

Short term rental? If we don't resign him, we get a 3rd round comp pick. If it ends up that way, then it's our 2nd for Sanu and a 3rd.

AB will likely line up against us during playoffs while we pick up the tab.
From all reports I’m afraid you are correct…!

Would most any team in the league support giving up a second round pick to greatly increase their chance of winning the super bowl?
I guess that depends how you define “greatly”

No brainer...

Pats 2nd will be 61 or 62 overall. If Sanu does not sign with the Pats next season they will receive a 3rd comp pick...

You guys will never learn... Trust BB

I know right? I'm a fairly knowledgeable fan AT BEST. BB is probably the greatest HC of all time and his scouting skills and knowledge of the game are historically unmatched. This guy knows what he's doing and has known for a VERY long time.

I wanted Sanu badly in that draft and we took Tavon Wilson instead.
Wow time flies....that was almost 8 years ago....unreal

He is has a contract for 2020.

Rutgers..makes sense now

I don’t get burning a second round pick on him.

But welcome to the Pats!
this a good thing, we usually blow the second rnd pick anyway

Could have just brought back AB and be done with it. Better than this frickin option.

I don't understand the obsession over AB.

I was happy myself when we signed him, but looking back...the guy is not stable and would likely do something stupid anyway if we brought him back.

WR1 Edelman
WR2 Sanu

Dorsett situational WR
Gordon IR?
Harry WR3?
Meyers WR5?
  • I'm guessing Gordon is banged up considering his level of play this season. Would not be surprised at him going to IR. Gordon or Harry will play X WR.
  • Meyers is now sent to the bench despite being top 10 in rookie receiving yards & #1 in catch rate.
  • Could they run air raid 4 WR when Wynn returns? Meyers & Dorsett are better than Watson/LaCosse.
Not a fan of the compensation but Sanu is a fine player & will fit in well.
