A lot of receiving tight ends and short on blocking TEs. I think BB wants a proper dual purpose guy - one of the reasons I was high on Drew Sample (although not as high on him as the Bengals clearly were).

Right. Moreau would have also been a fine option as his blocking skills are very good. The Raiders got a bargain at the bottom of the fourth with him.

Love the JM signing. Vg, smooth off the Los w his releases. + r/r. He should have a good chance here.
Expanding here. Meyers will definitely push, challenge for a spot if healthy. Very tough player that doesnt go down easy. Will bounce off you if you dont wrap up. Plays hurt. Came from a similar offense. Catches through contact. Reliable when you need him. Another tough 11 like 11, Landry.

Could clean up a few things but hes an udfa. Like his r/r & release but they could improve.

Again he's got a decent shot imo.

Why would any team pick a punter in the 5th round ? They think it’s a good idea. We are allowed to 2nd guess though. Me personally, it is my least favorite pick tied with trading up for JoeSlow Williams, and all the other maniacal trade downs.
You keep calling him JoeSlow. What are you talking about?

If TE was a priority to the Patriots they would of got one. Scouts would of scoured the country far and wide. They could of invited any udfa like Partham or whomever they wanted.

It just tells me that they are happy with what they got in ASJ and the other two, they have another vet in mind or they are moving away from TE sets and don’t deem the position a priority anymore. There are plenty of teams that are successful that don’t utilize the te and or have “avg joe’s” at the position. Life after Gronk is going to take some adjusting.
You don’t ignore two straight STRONG TE classes, when your ONLY pass catching TE is on the way out. ESPECIALLY when you have a ****load of picks in the 1st three rounds in the last 2 drafts.

Last year was especially brutal, had FIVE draft picks in the first 2 rounds, and came away with only 3 players in the first 2 rounds, with their next pick coming in the 5th round. People here said, but yeah we got a 2019 2nd round pick out of it by trading down, which was guess what, traded up to get JoeSlow Williams. So in reality, 2018 2nd round pick was in essence, traded for HALF of Williams in 2019.

I don’t think the sky is falling. TEs don’t need to be a team’s focal point.

More special teams competition....

JoeJuan Williams ran a 4.6, really slow for a CB.
He also ran a sub 4.5. Why are you picking the slowest time? Not that it matters much. The difference is minimal.

His 40 times are similar or faster than Rice, Sherman, Fitzgerald, Boldin, Haden, Zach Miller, Antonio ****head Brown, Ertz, Kelce, and Gronk, just to name a few.

He is nearly 6’4”, has high character, and is very coachable. Do I think he will start day 1? No, of course not. He needs to learn the nuances of NFL schemes and covering pro’s. Do I think he will be a fantastic chess piece for Bill to play all over the backfield? Damn straight. The kid just turned 21 in December, and with some great coaching, will better learn how to use his body to stay with guys running around the field. Stutter steps, maintaining his press, opening his hips. Those are all things that are going to make him faster. The athleticism is there. I’m really excited to see what he can become over the next 3 years as the DB group begins the transition from the McCourtys and Chungs of the world.

They took Bailey at 163.

They invited a long-snapper to camp, ostensibly because Joe Cardona, the long snapper they took at 166 in 2015, is nearing the end of his rookie deal with the Patriots.

The Patriots tend to take players who will make the team, you know. If Stidham is any good, they can save 1.5m on Hoyer...if Bailey is any good, they can save the same on Allen, and won't have to go through the headache of him in free agency for four years.

ps. Blow the crumbs out of your CAPS LOCK key. It's sticking.

They gave Cardona a four-year extension last offseason.
