Looks like Rivers is out for the year...

This really sucks the kid is injured. Stunts his development this year.

Hopefully he'll get the " return this year " designation.

With that said Flowers was hurt his rookie year and that worked out well

Their 4th & 5th guys looked really good

Brian Tyms looked like Randy Moss in a pre-season game once. Looking good in a pre-season game isn't really saying that much.

Looks like we're going to have to spend a WR to get a DE.

We don't have to but we do need another body. A signing can maybe work as well though. I would not be against it but it would depend on the player you get back and who you trade.

Rivers likely wasn't going to be a force this season, but I hope this doesn't slow his progress for the next.

I was thinking of making a thread about this. Though I haven't done a lot of research as I think back about it more and more generally it is really really bad for a rookie to get injured this early in the season on his rookie year. I was trying to think of guys who bounced back from season endings injuries on their rookie year to be star players but I honestly couldn't think of one. I am sure there are some but I couldn't think of any instantly. On the other hand I can think of a number of rookies who got injured who went on to have pretty okay careers. Kellen Winslow Sr. was one of the only exceptions I could think of.

Clowney got injured very early in his rookie year. He never lived up to his potential after that. Ki-Jana Car (1995 Bengals). I tried to really look it up but I couldn't find good sources. Generally though I sadly think it tends to be a death nail when it comes to having a truly great career almost always.

Actually Clowney is looking really good now.

We will see. But so far he has clearly not lived up to what he was suppose to. 10.5 sacks in 2 years... it is not all about sacks but that is no where near what he should be doing. We will see though. If anyone has any names they care to throw out of guys who got injured their rookie year and went on to be really really good players I would love to hear them though. Like I said I just had to go by memory.

As someone pointed out Flowers got hurt bad his rookie year but he again is just a good player to this point.

We need a sad rating. I don't want to give OP a dislike, but I certainly dislike the news.

Get well soon, Rivers.

That or people could not care about ____DISLIKES____ and then you wouldn't have to feel bad for a dislike cause the OP would know you don't dislike him personally you're just reacting to the news.

Sad for Rivers, how many rookies at any position overcome season-ending injuries and then go on to be stars? Not that he was guaranteed to be a star but it's hard to imagine his ceiling being the same after this.

The thing about J.C. is his expectations were so hyped by people who had no clue the player he was.

He literally didn't have a skill set coming out.

Myles Garrett is the complete opposite.

Also J.C. is a he'll of a player. Ask Gronk, who was moved like he was on skates.

He's a really good player and will only get better.

Great, just freaking great:mad:

Disappointing. What will it take to convince Nink to un-retire?

I think his body must be shot at this point for him to retire right before what will be an epic season.

In this system? It's next to unheard of. Hopefully he can buck the trend.

Perhaps it's time for Nink to unretire. Give that big, fat, 1-year deal.

In addition to those noted above, Willis McGahee and Ben Watson had nice careers despite being out of commission for most, if not all, of their rookie seasons.

It seems like injuries hit us every other year. Last year we were healthy heading into the playoffs, 2013 and 2015 we were not.

ACL and LCL , what a trainwreck

First tough break for Pats, much tougher for the kid though.
Long rehab . but the head will matter most.
Mature, incredible work ethic . hopefully Flowers outcome to follow..
