Randy Moss Press Conference

Revis spent the entire second half in the locker room getting his leg looked at. I'm amazed he was able to tell that Moss was "putting on the brakes" all the way from there... must be some squeeky brakes.

My guess is Revis is pissed off that Cromartie did a better job covering Moss than he had.

Bingo, not sure why other people can't figure that out. It's a pure ego play on Revis' part. It's either that or admit that he's so out of shape that he's not even the best CB on his own team, let alone in the league.

Not reaching ... just commenting .

He didn't thank Mr. Kraft ... you have a problem with that?

No, but apparently you do. Why would he thank Kraft? Belichick is the one who he owes, all Kraft did was listen to Belichick.

Randy was classy there but he did seem to suggest that the trade took him by surprise. I hope the guy does well there.

LOLOL... notice the door left open for an un-Farvred year (2011) (?) As if Brett knows whether he'll even play out '10. Same thing every year... yeah enjoy THAT monkey-wrench, Randy! Of course Mossophiles can always imagine he's keeping the door open for an uncapped year, when he'll be back in a flying elvis hat.

Seriously, I like the way they settled it out (so far.) I can live without everybody pointing fingers and namecalling. I would love to have seen a higher pick fall our way, but que sera, sera. The main impact is that of sudden Mosslessness - something BB evidently believes we can endure.

(Unless, as one local savant puts it, he's "given up on the season.")

It certainly puts a tad more drama into the remainder of the string. And I love the local gripers talking about having one of the worst defenses in the league after 4 games. News flash: unless you mean one of the 24 in the bottom three quarters, that's not entirely accurate. It's just not one of the top defenses. There is a difference.

Everything isn't the goddam apocalypse and everything isn't the Best Day Of Your Life in Pats land. Sometimes you have issues you're working on, improvements you want to make across the season, blah blah blah.

Why is it everything has to be "the greatest ____ in league history" or "the worst ______ in the league"?

Crikee.

stabbed in the back?...he said himself this was his last year with the Pats. and if they were not going to do an extention, then he wanted out. How is that being stabbed in the back? you are such a damn drama queen. You need to realize that the organization is bigger than the player.

I couldn't possibly care less what you think. I say Moss was stabbed in the back for multiple reasons. He worked his ass off for us during the past three years to help us try to get to another superbowl, he put up with the endless criticism from our ungrateful fans and people in the local media who constantly doubted him, and in the opinion of many people, he earned that contract extension. But as is often the case, Kraft was too cheap to pay the man. I've never exactly made it a secret that i'm not a fan of Kraft. I think we could have won more championships if we wouldn't constantly lose so many big players to free agency and trades just because he doesn't want to pay people unless he has no choice.

And I believe he really was caught off guard with this sudden trade, as many people seemed to be, including some of our own players. If you remember the game two weeks ago, Randy seemed to be in a pretty good mood, almost as if someone let him think the contract issue would be settled. Everything was going well and he seemed happy during the press conference after the game. Then we had last monday's weird game where they only throw to Moss one time in the entire game, as if they were seeing what the offense would be like without passing to Randy. I think that's why he seemed upset at the end of the game, I think he realized what was going on there.

So yeah, I think randy was stabbed in the back.

Seeing you seem to be a huge Moss fan and have voiced your displeasure with the Patriots on this on several theads, I'll ask you again.

1. Why do you think Randy was traded?
2. Do you think that Randy brought most of this on himself?

new question
Why do you think the Patriots would stab Randy in the back?

1. We both know why he was traded. Kraft wasn't going to pay him so Bill tried to get what he could for Moss before he left in the offseason.

2. No. Kraft wouldn't have paid him regardless of what he did.

One of the many telling comments was the I never played for a team before... I'm sure that was lost on all his die hard Vikings fans pulling their 84 Jersey's out of mothballs for round 2.

A problem with most truly gifted athletes is they never had to work for it (conditioning aside) and they believe for that reason they are ever superior to the guys who did who achieve greatness the hard way. Randy has likely been told he will have a contract extension forthwith, which is why at this juncture he is willing to just go play football and no longer wants to talk contract. He gave a wink and a nod to the man in the back, Ziggy I presume, on that score... If the Vikings were smart they would drag out negotiations a couple of weeks. But they aren't so they will probably face the music next season if Lord Favre finally retires (provided Deana hasn't divorced him again over the junk mail and taken his tractor away).

No, but apparently you do.

Are you sure about that?

Totally positive about that?

Wh... Wh.... WHAT??

If it bothers you THAT much, I'm sure there's plenty of room on the Randy Moss/ Vikings bandwagon

After what he did for us, I'll always be on the Moss bandwagon. So yeah, if i'm able to go to the game against he Vikings, i'll still be wearing my Moss jersey and I will cheer if he gets a TD. Or I should say WHEN he gets a TD because there isn't much doubt with our CBs.

It should bother any patriots fan because the rest of our season is going to be a disaster. And next year doesn't look promising if we can't find at least a suitable replacement. Branch won't be it...

Kraft signed off on the rescue plan in 2007. Belichick would not have brought him here otherwise. Kraft also signed off on over $30M in comp... Kraft isn't the one who wasn't willing to extend him at this time. That's Bill, but it's more convenient for Randy to try to pass that off as Kraft because otherwise it would fly in the face of all this mutual respect with the coach baloney... Bill admires Randy's talent, but he's ready to admire it from distance again.

There is no way that BB would have allowed this to happen if he thought that Randy would have performed to his best and not acted up because of his contract situation. BB is all about winning.

Kraft would not interfere with BB running the team. He has way too large an investment in the Patriots to get on the wrong side of BB and have him walk away.

I am positive that ultimately, Kraft's role came down to "letting Belichick do his job". Even if he did sign off on the acquisition (I'm sure he did, since Moss came in and interviewed with everyone), it still just amounts to letting Belichick do what he felt was best for the team. Moss was the one who agreed to take a paycut to come here; his production was more than commensurate with his compensation; he doesn't owe Kraft anything.

Why do you think that Moss owes Kraft some enormous depth of gratitude? Directly and indirectly, Kraft made at least as much money off of Moss as Moss made off of him. It's rare that a player owes ownership much of anything. Players and owners alike owe the fans for funneling money into the sport and making them all millions of dollars; aside from that, they're all just earning money.

It is what it is. Moss has been traded and won't be back. To root against the Pats when they play the Vikes is borderline bandwagon.

Like it or not (and I don't), Kraft writes the checks. And this wouldn't be the first time the pats let a player go because Kraft didn't want to pay them. No matter what Kraft does, he's not going to get on Bill's bad side. Bill works with what he has...

When I see phrases such as 'stabbed in the back', the first thing I think of is people who got passed over for a promotion and/or raise in pay.

As far as I know, the Pats never promised Moss a new contract beyond this season.

For 2010, Moss' contract and paycheck simply get moved from the New England Patriots to the Minnesota Vikings. In other words, he still earns exactly the same amount had he played the entire year in Foxboro.

How exactly is this a 'stab in the back'?

I will be rooting for a Pat. Moss will always be a Patriot to many of us and I'm guessing you will see a lot of Moss jerseys in the stands.

Personally, i think losing this game is exactly what we deserve in this case.

Drama Queen. ;)

Why did he seem so happy after the Bills game? He was in a great mood during the game and during the press conference after it was over. I'm betting someone told him it would work out.

Still see Milloy and Meggett jerseys on game day too.

Moss is not a Patriot anymore.
