Should we bring in another kicker?

Ghost's kicking was not solid last year. Many kicks were close to being missed - including the crucial FG in the Super Bowl. The overall #s are not the issue, but what happens on the crucial last-second kick. The last late FG he made of importance was the one vs Az in week 1 I think. Many fans were "relieved" we had to go for 2 in the SB, instead of SG lining up for a tying XP.

It was tough either way.
Him missing a kick in the Superbowl was the biggest reason I'd thought we'd lose I said watch us miss the game tying 2 pt conv

I'll take Ghost for the XP any day over a 2PT conversion try.

Of course, but the fact that people were saying that was telling.

Totally different. QB has a much higher injury rate, you need at least 2 to scrimmage, you need to develop a backup and even a 3rd guy since kickers can play 20 years. QB arm wear out in camp etc, kickers arent making that many kicks.

Bad example

Still kickers get hurt or do silly off field stuff that gets them booted and the punters are usually the backup too. What's your issue with giving our kicker a little competition? Why can't we criticize him for missing some crucial kicks? We only want to help out team improve.

Idiots on a pats forum aren't "people" They are idiots on a message board forum. If you are hinting the "media" was saying it then LMFAO!

I assume you have played competitive sports?

Yes I have and competition is good for the team.

Fine, Ghost has earned a chance to get things straightened out. I am not sold on bringing in a kicker. But if he struggles, the leash this year will be shorter than last. And kickers can go south fast - particularly if it is a mental thing.

You are wrong and judging by your opinion here I doubt it was very competitive. Your blanket statement shows you dont know what you are talking about. Obviously BB has confirmed it along with other way more intelligent posters here

A good coach will know his players and will motivate them with what motivates them. Sometimes the competition approach backfires if it's applied to the wrong player. They may become even less confident. Sometimes competition motivates a player. There is no universal "rule" that applies.

I've played college softball and volleyball. We were in the playoffs every year I was there and every year we had new students coming in and competing at every position. I don't know what you played but complacency is never good. Each year we get the draft and every rookie is out to get a spot of the team and every veteran is out there to make sure they keeps theirs. Brady will be the first one to tell you that competition is good for the team. He even says in interviews that he needs to earn his spot every year.

Once again you are wrong. You are digging yourself deeper and making broad generalizations. You dont get it.

Ghost isn't complacent. He knows if he does not perform he could be gone at any point. Kickers get let go mid-season all the time.

Raise your hand if you feel as good about our place kicking as you did in mid-2015.
people were saying they should cut Ghost in 2014 because he missed a FG in Green Bay, he missed two all year. Many fans dont like Ghost because he isnt Adam Vinatieri, as for this year I am very confident that Ghost is better than anyone the Patriots could bring in.

So I'm wrong to suggest competition is good for the team and this game. I'm fine with that.
