One last quick entry before I call it a night, but following Peter King's announcement of a new contract for Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, more details have emerged on his new deal.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN Brady's four-year deal is worth $72 million, $48.5 million of which is guaranteed.
Clearly the guaranteed money was likely the deciding factor, and is actually close to the $50 million that rookie Sam Bradford received. This contract also makes him the highest paid player in terms of highest average per-year salary, as he eclipsed Eli Manning's deal of $16 million per season.
Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald also points out that Brady was paid $6.5 million in cash this year, and actually made $12 million this year if you include what he was paid early. That brings his total to $84-million over the next five years.
