Wilfork: Retirement 50/50

Actually he's made most of the money he ever will already because he got an $18M signing bonus plus $750K salary up front on his 2010 deal and he earned roughly $13M from his rookie deal. He's only comparatively speaking of course) got another $20 tops (only about $5M of which is guaranteed) coming to him from the remaining 4 years on his second deal that ends at age 33 or 34 if there is a lost season...

Personally I think his statement is just blather to fuel the lockout breakfast discussion, but then again he and Bianca have been very thrifty and careful with his money because they always intended it to last and provide for his family while also being mindful of his potential health concerns going forward because of his loss of both parents to complications of diabetes while still in their 40's. They have long understood that he can't maintain NT weight indefinitely and not risk the same thing happening to his kids.

Wilfork will spend that $18M bonus in a year based on grocery shopping alone. There's no way he's retiring.
