I honestly think the game has passed Belichick. His defenses are getting lit up in the face of a pass/offense friendly NFL. The days of Grit and toughness are long gone. He's not confusing anybody anymore. But you know what, it happens to all the greats.
I think we need to start getting into the habit of trading up in drafts. Get a high pick, draft a stud athlete/physical DB and or linebacker and build your team around speedy/tough/physical athletes and get away from this second hand, scrub secondary. You got to have people that can cover and play the run. Passing is the name of the game now and there's a ton of good recievers in the league.
Being elite at stopping the run just ain't good enough anymore. Too many good qb's out there unlike 5-10 years ago.
