Schefter: Bill Belichick & Patriots to Part Ways

Kraft is a screwed businessman I would go with Vrabel and give Mayo another pay raise.

What’s to be nervous about? That they won’t be able to put together another 4 win team?

That they won’t be able to draft special team specialists in the third round?
Nervous about losing the coach who captained the Pats to an unprecedented six SB wins.

But I am sure whoever replaces him will be better.

First of all, thanks to BB for all that he brought us over nearly a quarter century...it's time to refresh and move on, but TB12 and BBHoodie are inextricably linked in the success of what wise pundits have observed was a dynasty that spanned two eras. Not just the first three, but then three more. Remarkable and seals BB as the GOAT HC and TB as the GOAT QB.

The Krafts are not the Sullivans. But if this blows up on them, they will be
It’s a shame. Kraft hired the man who brought in the culture, structure, and framework of the greatest franchise in the history of the sport. Kraft is now moving on from the man who created what the patriots have been. Now he will start over from scratch, and will probably not live long enough to realize he just made his franchise just another one of the 32.

With Tom Brady of course not it'll never happen again
Without Tom Brady we can do much better than the past 4 seasons

How are you holding up today

It’s the tail end of a rebuild. They need 2 or 3 players. You’re abandoning it for mediocrity
I would suggest positionally O line Wr and QB are needs and will require more than 2-3 players. I'm a big fan of everything that Bill has achieved but these were needs last year too with the exception of QB and i don't think they were succesfully addressed last year so i'm not sure they would have been this year?

As Julia Robert’s said to the salesclerks who wouldn’t wait on her while holding up all her shopping bags - “Big Mistake, BIG, HUGE”!!

Second point. I think (hope?) that the Krafts are savvy enough to avoid three mistakes at this critical juncture.
1) Rushing to pick a familiar face from within the organization...Mayo or Josh might end up being the right choice, but they have to look more broadly. Renewal means renewal.
2) Trying to convince themselves that Mac Jones is any part of the future. His attitude here sucked towards the beginning, his play was unpredictable throughout and, frankly, he is talented enough to deserve a second chance somewhere else without the baggage of succeeding the GOAT and the many mistakes made over the last few seasons across the entire organization.
3) Thinking Zappe is the answer.

We've won as many games as the Commanders last two years. We've won zero playoffs games in five years. We were already there.
