    My Jersey:

On the pre game channel 4 show Dungy was asked what he told his players about a Repeat after winning the Super Bowl. Dungy replied that "its a new game , put the rings away.. etc..etc.. ".

Harrison leaned over to Dungy and said " Maybe they should have listened to Belichick".

    Classic bash. :)

And he just called Brees one of the top-2 QBs in the NFL. When Dungy tried to throw in Manning's name, Rodney shot him down :lol2:

You can tell Dungy doesn't know how to fire back. I hope Rodney keeps this up all season whooping up on Dungy on pregame, I might have to watch this just for that.

Haha, this is pretty entertaining. Didn't Farve just say in his little interview special that the NFCCG was the most hostile environment he ever played in? I imagine that means he was a LITTLE bit intimidated..

I wish Rodney would have dished a little of that out to Keith Olberdouche last year.

Rodney seems to finally have had enough to Dungy and given the free reign from the producers he is not holding back...

It's gonna be a long season for the Saint and Rodney is only going to go up in value to the network :D

On reading the title, I was hoping that Rodney had put some pads on, and while Dungy was standing at the food table, eating something, and then Rodney comes in and blind sides him :D

The few bits I saw last year I thought Rodney was way too passive. Especially when they did that absurd segment the night of the Colts game, "contrasting" Belichick and Dungy (still can't write "Dungy" without writing "Dung."). They'd show Belichick and say "rule bender" and then cut to a smug Dungy and say "straight shooter." It's amazing how comfortable Dungy seemed with the schtick. I wanted Rodney to come up and bap him with a forearm.

Anyway ... sounds like that might have been an adjustment year.

    Go Rodney! Defend and attack!

That was the Rodney we know and love. But these two guys must really despise each other. Dungy seems reluctant even to look at Rodney. Not that Rodney cares.

I'm as big a Rodney (and Pats) fan as anyone here on this board, and cannot stand the Colts. I think Rodney is great on tv. That said, let me just make sure I understand this correctly:

Harrison criticizes Dungy = good, want to see more of it
Dungy criticizes (insert name here) = sanctimonious piece of crap, shouldn't do it

Just so I understand how the system works is all....

Yep, no doubt Colts fans think Rodney is the biggest %$#&! on tv. :)

Love him or hate him, what it comes down to is that Rodney is developing some star quality and should have as long, successful and controversial a career in broadcasting as he did in football. He's quick, well-spoken, opinionated and funny. That's a refreshing contrast to the likes of Dan Marino, who after all this time still sits tongue-tied in front of the cameras, looking so uncomfortable I can hardly watch.

Feel free to disagree, but I'm always up for Rodney beating up on Dungy a bit.

Pretty much. I've never been much for the holier-than-thou type. YMMV

Pretty much. Call a spade a spade because Dungy is always quick to judge matters that involve people off the field and pull out his soap box to preach how they should behave = *******.

Me too. I think it's fun.

I guess I'm just not sure why it's holier-than-thou for Dungy to criticize someone but it's not holier-than-thou for someone to criticize Dungy. Seems like any form of criticism implies that the critic wouldn't have done what the person he's criticizing has done. That implies that the critic is more "right" or "holier" than the guy he's criticizing.

    It can't be a one-way street.

That said, Dungy absolutely needs to accept criticism himself if he's willing to take the job of criticizing others. The two-way street has to work for him as well.

The difference comes in the type of criticism offered. If Dungy wants to break down weaknesses in people's games, offer the actual football-related insight that one would expect a coach to have, talk about the philosophy of coaching a team... that would be really interesting stuff to hear. When he talked about how the Saints baited Favre into throwing that final INT in the NFCCG last year, for example, that was interesting. But inserting himself into other people's off-the-field situations to talk about what they should do if they want to be the moral beacon of righteousness that he is, that's just condescending, holier than thou BS.

His job is to talk about matters relating to the NFL, not just x's and o's. The Bush situation is a *big* deal, not just for the NCAA, but also for the NFL, because Bush is a star. All kinds of people in the media are offering opinions on what the Heisman committee should do, what Bush should do, what USC should do, etc. Dungy also offered his opinion on it. In essence, he (Dungy) did nothing different from what other media figures have done. People here hate him (fair enough). But I find it ironic for people to criticize Dungy because Dungy criticizes others. Those that criticize Dungy are doing the exact same thing that they are saying Dungy shouldn't do - that is, offer an opinion about how people should (or shouldn't) act.

Dungy can behave anyway he wants, but I watch football because I want to hear about football. When a football analyst starts pontificating how others should behave in their personal life then I think he should keep his mouth shut. I would bet that Dungy has more than a few skeletons in his own closet that would probably contradict a lot of things that have come out of his mouth.
