The Tomase family welcomed in a newborn. Some interesting stuff in here. My favorite:

Patsox Remember 2 months ago when you called me an idiot or something of that nature when I said Maroney would have about 950-1,100 yards and Morris would be very close to that with 800? - Still think its stupid to think that way?

I said at that time that is was well known that BB absolutely LOVES Morris and in no way was he just going to be a once in a while performer and would be more like splitting time with Maroney like Corey did and it looks as if it is the case

In fact who knows? - If Maroney has more problems with sporadic injury Morris just may be the only 1,000 yard rusher on this team.

One more good tidbit, which I never knew to be true, but always felt it was.

Evans is an outstanding lead blocker. However, in his Patriots career he has carried the ball six times inside the 2 and scored just once.

I still think it was stupid to say it then. You seemed to think they'd split carries 50/50. I remain skeptical that that will be the case in the end. And it hasn't been true yet - 'though it has been closer to true than I'd expected.

In the 3 games in which both played, LoMar carried the ball 20, 15 and 19 times. Morris carried the ball 11, 10 and 12 times.

If Maroney sits in this next game and Morris has another 100+ game against the Browns (definately possible if they run away from Willie's side) it may be more closer to 50/50 the rest of the season than you think.

Is Morris just a one game wonder in 2007 with that type of triple digit performance on monday or is he just a great fit with this team and will continue with those types of performances all year? - Time will tell

Well, yes, if Morris plays a bunch of games for which Maroney is INACTIVE, but that doesn't mean they are in the strict platoon you have been pushing. By the way, why exactly are we talking about this in a thread I started about the Herald blog?

To tell you the truth I have no idea,I just read it and when your forum name and Morris came up together it hit me of things we talked about in the past.

Sorry for the invasion from the original post but the Morris thing was too good to pass up :)

Morris is the perfect compliment to Maroney, and, in fact, the kind of runner the Pats absolutely need in order to move forward.

Maroney may be shifty and quick, probably has much better flat out speed than Morris; but he still doesn't hit the holes with enough authority or commitment. He's shown flashes of it, but he's still not consistent enough in just blowing through the LOS. He needs to do that if he's going to be a great RB.

Maroney seems to have all the tools, but does he have the heart?

    #37 Jersey

I'm just here to say I'm glad Tomase is back, congrats on the kid, and I'm delighted to see they didn't shelve the Tale of the Tape. We'll miss you 'Bert, go to it John.

Running Evans near the goal line is more or less the equivalent of kneeling.

Nope, Maroney is going to get the majority of the carries when he is active no matter what Morris does this week (if Maroney sits out). Maroney is the better back, even though Morris has been good. Maroney would have absolutely murdered the Bengals. That 49-yd Morris run would have been a 51-yd TD run, for starters.

Kudos to the non-idiots for keeping this thread on track. My apologies for entertaining the doofi who insist on using this as a dumping station because they saw my name at the top.

I agree about Evans. I guess BB likes him and he is versatile, but I hate seeing him at the goal line. I suspect it's a calculation that there's a lot of banging down there, and why subject Maroney (or any #1 RB) to extra pounding/risk if it's not necessary. Figure it's 1 or 2 yards, it doesn't take a "special" player to ram it home. And Heath Evans is worth the risk. But he does suck at it. At some point that will change or the RB will change.

    Kyle Eckel, anyone?

I totally agree with you, and what I want to do is stand up and applaud your post, but if we can keep this thread on topic, that would rock.
