Minor moves
By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff

The Patriots have signed center Dan Connolly to their practice squad. The 6-foot-4, 318-pound Connolly entered the NFL as a rookie free agent out of Southeast Missouri State. He had been with the Jaguars since 2005.

The team also continues to keep its emergency lists fresh, working out free agents at various positions. On Tuesday, quarterback David Greene, punter Dirk Johnson and running back Wali Lundy were brought in for workouts.

Former Patriots tight end Christian Fauria has signed with the Panthers. Wednesday plan: Coach Bill Belichick is scheduled to hold a press conference at 10:50 a.m., followed by media access to the locker room. We'll plan on passing along an update at that time.

He was worked out on Monday.

Now here, finally, is a thread I like. I have no idea who Dan Connolly is, nor how good he is, but God bless him for being a walking, snapping (long-snapping?) talking point just when we needed one most.

May I be the first to wish him a long and successful career as a Patriot.
