Inactive Analysis

Some analysis from the inactive players for both teams today:
On the Patriots’ side, opening-day starter Eugene Wilson is active after missing the last five games. Wilson isn’t likely to start at safety, but figures to be part of either the nickel or dime packages. He should also fill the void that Rashad Baker leaves on special teams coverage units. Elsewhere, with starting right guard Stephen Neal out, it is likely that seven-year veteran Russ Hochstein steps in. The team has six wideouts dressed – Chad Jackson is the addition – after going with five last week. Look for Jackson to get at least one crack in the return game, where the Patriots will look to utilize his speed against Steelers units that have struggled at times.
For the Steelers, the big news is that safety Troy Polamalu (knee) isn’t ready to go. Eight-year veteran Tyrone Carter is expected to slide into that starting role. The rest of the inactives are all backup players.
