Wow.

White’s injuries the last few years toppled his career in Buffalo. I’d take Poyer though.

Sounds like Von Miller’s and Josh Allen’s contracts are starting to bite them hard.

It makes it more amazing what the Patriots as an organization accomplished for 20 years.

They remained competitive without really having these issues until the end.

"The cap is crap," is just another way of going after Bill.

It minimizes one of Bill's greatest accomplishments. Managing the cap so it doesn't one day tear apart your team.

That sound you hear is Buffalo's window closing fast

The truth is that none of these players mattered for the Bills last year. The Bills were weak with Tre White and Poyer and they also already lost Hyde. They need a total rebuild of the D-backfield. It's amazing the D played as well as it did. The bad draft pick of Kaiir Elam is haunting them.

That being said, the players they're letting go are either old or way past their prime.

I think you can criticize the Von Miller contract, however. They swung for the fences and hampered themselves. Get rid of all the players you got rid of, but if you didn't have the Miller contract, you'd be bringing in reinforcements in free agency.

One other factor: the Bills have taken a lot of guys on their defensive front over the last several years, but most of them haven't panned out.

Now you have Diggs aging, and with his big contract, he'll be out of there soon.

I dont think the window is closing in the sense that the team you saw out there this season will be practically the same team again next year, but they have to start hitting in their drafts pronto.

Agreed, this is one of the most important drafts in Buffalo history, given that the window on the offensive talent will be closing as well.

There were 2 things always on BB's mind: value and depth. Shop for the best value, and make sure you can deliver on "next man up". He was the best at that.

Where he failed in the end was with the WR room the past 6 years, both drafting errors and failed FA/trade moves: N'Keal, Sanu, Antonio Brown, and many others. The number of missteps is unreal, which is really why Brady wanted out. Even recently with Jakobi Meyers, JuJu, and extending Parker.

Sure, didn't matter. Who'd want Jordan Poyer, Tre White or Mitch Morse... let's see who they start instead.

The Dolphins are over the cap also, they're letting Christian Wilkins and Xavier McKinney walk... arguably the best DT and CB on their 16th ranked defense. Wilkins and his 9 sacks is leaving after his rookie contract in the prime of his career... is it because he's old?

But hey, they Dolphins were so desperate to get Tyreek Hill they were willing to trade a 1st, 2nd, two 4ths and a 6th... then turn around and pay Hill a 4 year, $120,000,000 contract.

The "weapons" crowd here were salivating over it, asking why couldn't BB be less cheap and make that trade ... since that time the Chiefs have won two more championships, the Dolphins... not so much.

Want a masterclass in cap management, be the Chiefs, don't be the Dolphins.

Anyone dismissing the cap out of hand, saying it doesn't matter or "the cap is crap" is a dunderhead when it comes to NFL roster building and shouldn't be listened to by other fans.

A lot of people are to blame for those moves. Do you think we waste all those draft picks, the AB and Sanu deals, if Belichick, Brady and the whole admin. aren't so desperate? We wasted valuable draft capital just to keep the dynasty going at a time when it was clear the players were well past their prime.

Not sure how much Belichick had to do with the Jakobi/JuJu switch. That sounds like an analytic move to me, and Andrew Callahan has reported that's exactly what it was, long before the season started. Jakobi is much more a Belichick style player.

We're about to see the conditions repeated under which Belichick failed to find a top WR. The Patriots simply HAVE to draft a QB and a tackle in the first 2 rounds, which will leave us looking for value for WRs later on. We'll need to find more Demario Douglas types. Then you look at FA and the pickings are very slim other than Ridley.

This is the repeat of the same thing that's been happening over the last 4 years.

The Dolphins did give up too much for Hill, but it made them competitive.

This is what happens when you have Tua instead of Mahomes.

Tyreek was actually co-MVP this year with McCaffrey.

Both guys were aging and White basically missed the last 2 seasons. I don’t think the Bills will miss them much on-field wise.

This is what happens when you have the 16th ranked defense like the Dolphins did (Chiefs 3rd best) and don’t have one of the most expensive offensive lines in the NFL like Mahomes did.

Spending insane amounts of money on a few guys, and nothing on everyone else is how you fail. We don’t know how competitive the Dolphins would have been of they used those draft picks on players, rather than one player… but I bet "competitive" would be the answer.

QB magic, it’s the answer for everything.

Except the Chiefs wanted to keep Hill and were willing to pay him but Tyreek wanted out. Had Tyreek wanted to remain with the Chiefs he would still be there.

If they just pick where they are and take QB at 3 and OT at 34, then at 68 they should be able to move up to around 61 by offering our high 5th rounder. In this draft there's a chance of getting a good WR there.

The Chiefs weren’t willing to pay Tyreek what the Dolphins would… that’s why he’s gone.

Feelings don’t mean sht in relation to millions and millions of dollars.

Your point also underscores how much value we'd obtain via a small trade down from 3. An extra mid to high 2nd rounder would change everything in terms of WR.
