any idea when they will be in stores?
NFL has no problem with gambling per se. They just want to protect the value of their own product. Players and coaches gambling on games could have the potential to devalue their brand tremendously; endorsement deals with state-run lotteries do not carry that risk.
Lotteries are considered a game of chance. There is no wagering on the outcome of a sporting event. They carry no potential to impact the integrity of the game. Plus they are conducted to benefit cities and towns, not gamblers... But other than that, dead on as usual...
According to an article by Jessica Holzer from TheHill.com, Martin Gold, a lobbyist at Covington & Burling who represents the National Football League (NFL), stated in a letter sent by e-mail to the offices of Financial Services Committee members the following:
“Our sports organizations would very strongly oppose any effort to legalize any online sports gambling. We would also oppose any legislation that would legalize and regulate non-sports gambling online, because we do not believe that differential treatment of sports gambling and other gambling online would be sustainable in the current environment."
NFL Vice President Joe Browne confirms the view expressed by the lobbyist.
It's gambling.
NFL opposes online gambling, not just sports betting
But you keep trying to work that fine line just as the NFL is doing.
If you think it's a fine line at play here, you need glasses.

From the article you link to:
"We would also oppose any legislation that would legalize and regulate non-sports gambling online, because we do not believe that differential treatment of sports gambling and other gambling online would be sustainable in the current environment."
The league makes it perfectly clear that they object to online gambling of all kinds ONLY BECAUSE they think it will inevitably lead to online sports gambling. They don't even pretend to care about gambling as a "moral" issue. You can't be a hypocrite without pretending to care. A heartless, money-grubbing bastard, yes...but that's a different argument.
They are out now. In some stores. UPS delivers them, so some might not get them till tomorrow.I checked the lottery website and they have no announcement up. They gave out tickets in the media packages and to the players in the locker room, so I'd guess by the end of the week. Apparently the always clever Matt Light immediately set to work convincing Brady to split his with his OLmen if he won...
The coolest part is, if you don't like your ticket, you can trade down for a $3 ticket this year, and a $3 ticket next year...
"If it wasn't for the economic times, (the league allowing lottery deals might not have happened)," said Patriots Chairman Robert Kraft. "The fact that we know to get an extension to the labor agreement, we have to work every way we can to grow revenues.
"Look at spending by automobile companies and (beer companies), they're just not spending," Kraft added. "We have two bankrupt automotive companies. (Other) car companies are just not spending money. And beer companies aren't spending the way they did.
"We have to go out and be resourceful and create new revenue or we'll have a real problem in the labor area."
