Amazing, I figured no way that this would be upgraded, I don't think that Gorin took a single snap for Arizona all year!

It works out, that we only lose ten draft spots over the whol Gabriel fiasco, as Arizona's 6th rd pick is only ten picks after the 5th that we shipped to Oakland.

Reis also says in his blog that we are not getting a pick from Cleveland for Tucker. So it looks like ten picks for the Pats this year, with at least two comps picks coming.

1 24 New England (Seattle)
1 28 New England
2 28 (60) New England
3 27 (91) New England
4 28 (123) New England
6 28 187 New England
6 6 165 New England (Arizona)
7 28 219 New England

It's like Christmas all over again. :D

Not to nitpick but shouldn't it be...

With a few 6s and 7s coming as comp picks, you can bet we'll be trying to trade the 6s and 7s you have listed there as they're all tradeable.

Even if we don't trade Samuel, when we get a #4 for Givens and have 1,1,2,3,4,4 (admittedly all late in the round) that'll look nice.

you think itll be a 4th??when do they announce comp picks?

i want to be frozen and then thawed out again right b4 the draft, im pretty excited about these two first round picks.

It should be a 4th, I don't buy J. Kraft's hinting at a 3rd (although he would have more info than me).

Based on last year's numbers, Givens' contract was at the high end of a #4, accounting for contract inflation I assume it'll fall in the mid range of a #4 for this year.

I don't believe that the comp picks are a tick for tat deal. I always thought that it was the cumlative loss versus gain in free agency.

So you would weigh the losss of
Givens
Vinateri
Chatham
Dwight
Ashworth
Stone

verus the signing of
Caldwell
Mel Mitchel

Then you add in the contracts that the players signed.
Givens got 4 years 24 million
Vinateri got 3 years 11 million
Chatham got 3 years unknown $
Dwight got 3 years 750,000 Signing bonus *min salary
Ashworth got 5 years 13 million

versus the Caldwell contract

I expect the Pats to get at least two comp picks and maybe three, the most any team can recieve is four comp picks. If it is cumlative we may get a 3rd, or maybe a 4th and a 5th.
