Shula was head of the competition committee at the time. that committee determined officials salaries, perks and promotions, among other things. Fins got so many calls in their favor during that time it was laughable. I even remember one game when the Bills were on a last minute drive in the snow in buffalo to beat them in 72' (they had OJ then who was a force) 3 consecutive holding calls came out that saved the fins. it was clear they had no answer for OJ on that drive other than the zebras. i even remember Bills owner Ralph Wilson throwing a fit after the game over the officiating. I don't think he'd ever done that before or since. So I say if people want to talk about Spygate and look at Pats 07 season under a microscope, that same forensic work should take place for Shula's 72' campaign.

What do you mean by "BS too"? There is nothing BS about the Pats.

sorry didnt mean to imply it was. when i said "too" im saying i remember it and it was BS. in my mind our season is way more legit than theirs. we've been under a microscope from the 1st game and gotten no favors, unlike shula's "competition committee" fins.

It was a perfect season, and deserves to be honored as such. IF the Pats equal it THEN we can debate which is better. If the Pats lose a game then the 1972 season is still the best.

And I sincerely doubt that the Competition Committee EVER set the officials' salaries. That makes zero sense. Can you provide some proof? I doubt it. I think you just made that up to help make your point, and to give you justification for starting another dubious thread.

pats had no unfair advantage this year ... NONE, ZERO. even if you believe we were taping jets defensive calls, that happened in the 1st game of the year and since it was confiscated at half time we never got to watch it. after that theres never been the slightest hint of anything wrong by our staff. we never had any opportunity to use privileged information. ZERO. unlike shula who had the benefit of officials that entire season. it wouldnt surprise me if those biased officiating is the reason why they changed it so the competition committee no longer sets officials salaries. how bogus was that. talk about the fox watching the hen house!

to me that enforces it further they had an unfair advantage. and they knew it. i think when people get something unfairly they're even more protective about not losing it.

Then maybe you should remember that the game you are referring to was in Miami, not Buffalo. And the force that was OJ had 57 yards on 16 carries.

Other than that it's your fairy tale, tell it however you want to. You might want to lose the snow though.

And the score there was 30-16 so I don't know what last second drive the OP is referencing.

    No Jersey Selected

Must have been the game in Miami. Simpson only rushed for 57 yards. Bills had 6 penalties for 56 yards. Final score was 24-23

well there you go. pretty hard to rush well when every time you bust one you get flagged for 10-yard holding penalty. those officials probably got a raise from shula for the 1-point win

You've just managed to revise your own revisionist history. Could it be you just don't know what you're talking about?

wrong, i said there was a close game between bills and fins in 72', the outcome of which was determined by a series of questionable holding calls on what looked like a bills game winning drive. so maybe i got the location wrong it was in miami not buff. big whoop, it was 35 years ago. i recalled enough to demonstrate i'm right
