Shula was head of the competition committee at the time. that committee determined officials salaries, perks and promotions, among other things. Fins got so many calls in their favor during that time it was laughable. I even remember one game when the Bills were on a last minute drive in the snow in buffalo to beat them in 72' (they had OJ then who was a force) 3 consecutive holding calls came out that saved the fins. it was clear they had no answer for OJ on that drive other than the zebras. i even remember Bills owner Ralph Wilson throwing a fit after the game over the officiating. I don't think he'd ever done that before or since. So I say if people want to talk about Spygate and look at Pats 07 season under a microscope, that same forensic work should take place for Shula's 72' campaign.
