No Pats tag

The deadline has passed for NFL teams to designate a franchise or transition player, and the Patriots are not using the designation.

That means kicker Adam Vinatieri, a possible target to get a tag, could become a free agent as of March 3.

More to come.

I really hope we sign AV to a nice, cap kind, long term deal. That is how it should be, I cannot imagine seeing him with a star or horseshoe or Indian on his hat - revolting thought.

How much value do the endorsements, appearances and long term opportunity for AV in Boston come into play in all of this? Or is all about the money, right now?

He can and should finish as a Patriot as a cult hero around here on a fast track to the HOF.

Are the Pats playing hardball or is AV overinflating his worth. Who will we find to kick and imagine the uproar when games are lost due to an inferior kicker signed to save a 1/2MM..

You can't franchise tag players continuously, thats a recipe for bad feelings on both sides. Obviously the Patriots FO feels AV is worth a set amount. He will either like the offer or he won't. Hope to see him in a Pats uniform till he retires but........... Whatever you choose Adam thanx for the memories! :rocker:
