Don't Go to Sleep This Spring on Patriots CB Darryl Roberts

I'll just say that if Ryan somehow goes back to poo poo '14 Ryan next year, I think Roberts could come in and surprise as the #2 outside corner.
That's a foregone conclusion for me.

Logan Ryan sucking in 2014 was perhaps a combination of a sophomore slump and adjusting to the rule change, I don't see why we can't expect a similar level of play from him this season as what he delivered last season.

I outright expect it. We're operating with an incredibly small sample size for Roberts, but based on what little we saw I'm intrigued, and I think he would've beat out Ryan last year if not for the injury.

Roberts looked good, but we really don't know why to expect this year or how he does if he plays a lot of snaps.

Ryan is terrible with double moves.

Malcolm got burned by a few double moves last year as well. The issue is that he has the recovery speed and quickness and Ryan does not.

Athletically Roberts is superior to Ryan. There is no question about that. The question is can he learn the D and play with good technique, fundamentals and in control.

I know the 1st commandment here is Do your job
but this is something that would keep me awake ...

The thing that really struck me about some of the "negatives" was that a decent amount of them should be correctable through good coaching. A lot of Roberts' positives you can't teach, like size, speed, and length.
