sign, trade whatever, a wet fart is a wet fart by any other name and smells just as bad. greene is just another stuck in the mud move by a perennially stuck in the mud team.

Well, the wet fart kinda fits you also. Basically you are talking our your arse in either case.

Its Green not Greene. And Trent Green is a good back-up for Culpepper and should be more than adequate to take over if/when Culpepper falters. In all honesty, I fear Green more than I do Culpepper.

Re: Dolphins Trying to Sign Trent Greene

green will be 37 this year, he's immobile and his head has been rocked harder than a coconut falling from a tree. he's never won a playoff game. signing him does exactly nothing for that team's long term prospects. and when you're as bad as they are you had better be thinking long term versus short term fixes. coldpooper or green are equally scary, in the sense that 0 = 0.

A wet fart feels like the kind of thing you'll get away with at the beginning. No one will notice your mistake and you will one-up those around you in the end. Then, as soon as you pull the trigger, you realize you made a terrible mistake, and the only way to fix it is to go home and change your pants.

Given that the Dolphins have changed, thrown away and burned their pants already this offseason, I don't see how thay'll ever recover from the wet fart of trading for Green.

Re: Dolphins Trying to Sign Trent Greene

Agreed completely. There are a couple of obstacles that the Dolphins face with this move however. If Green comes to Miami, he's going to want to be a starter and likely want starter money. Also, do the Fins cut Culpepper, or proceed forward with him? I would be very happy with Green as an insuarnce policy in case Culpepper is in fact done in the NFL. I wonder if the Fins would draft Stanton or another late first day pick, or groom Lemon under these 2.

By no means am I talking smack, but I would like to know how the Fins have "burned their pants" this off-season.

How old was Rich Gannon when he took the Raiders to the SB? How about Randall Cunningham when he lead the Vikes to a 15-1 record back in 99'?? What the hell does age have to do with anything, other then a Pat fan looking for every excuse to trash every signing made by other teams?? Nothing!!!

A division rival trying to swing a deal for another QB would be a valid thread here if not started by our resident troll baiting troll. All of his threads belong somewhere other than on the main forum.

New coach, dumping of players (McMchael, Carter, much of the offensive line, perhaps Culpepper).

Re: Dolphins Trying to Sign Trent Greene

Green does not have a back-up's contract, he has a starters contract. I'd doubt he'd voluntarily give up money to be demoted.

If the trade happens I think Green will either be the starter or will be cut.

It is just stupid to think that age is a compltete non-factor when it comes to players.

Re: Dolphins Trying to Sign Trent Greene

Not as stupid as to think that just because he's not 25 he can't play anymore! Age at the QB position is a none factor, unless you were never good to begin with. Infact the older more experienced QB's can not only win, but win big. It's been proven many many times!! Nobody in Miami expects more then a season or two out of Green and Only if Culpepper can't go. We aren't exactly going out of our way to sign him. If we get him it's added strength and depth to the QB position, if not, ohwell!!

Re: Dolphins Trying to Sign Trent Greene

If that is true then why is 37 year old Brett Favre always at the top of the league in interceptions in recent years. QB's careers are generally longer than they are at positions like running back, but like it or not, quarterback's skills do decline with age.

Re: Dolphins Trying to Sign Trent Greene

You choose one example??? Like that covers all older QB's?? Brett Favre is still better then half the QB's in the league. Why must you argue every little point as if you're some all knowing football guru?? God get over yourself. Go back and do a little studying before you calim older QB's can't compete and be successful well into their late 30's and early 40's.

Many championships have been won with those type of QB's. You're definatley showing your age if you need this expalined to you. I'm not going to do this for you, if you choose to remain un-eduated on the subject that's your choice but there's a history in the NFL of veteran QB's winning big games late in their careers. Trent Green has been very successful throughout his career, he is still capable of winning and playing at a high level, especially if he fits into a system well.
