Had the misfortune of seing the loathsome Shaughnessy's brief appearance on the NBC Nightly News last night. I was away from the remote and it happened too quickly to change the channel. Sigh ...
Lester Holt interviewed Don Yee, finally getting a small bit of airtime for Brady's side of the story. The broadcast countered this brief moment of sanity by showing a near subliminal cut of a headline from yesterday's (?) Globe saying "cheaters" or something to that effect.
Cue CHB, looking like a deranged jet fan who never leaves his mother's basement and nevertheless slathers on SPF 100 every day for fear that a stray sunbeam will accidentally contact his nearly translucent, pasty white skin. CHB's 15 seconds of fame was amounted some vague mumbling about "you just know something must have happened." Insightful. The rube from Boston gets suckered by Lester and the big network guys into contributing to the national "Tom Brady is evil" meme. Dan, this time, you really did yourself proud. What a putz.
My life was immeasurably improved several years ago who I began to ignore CHB's misanthropic meanderings. I did this not because his reflexive contrarianism is lame and tiresome (which it most decidedly is), but because of the palpable disdain he has for athletes, coaches, owners and, especially, sports fans.
Hey Dan, if you hate sports so much, don't (pretend to) be a sportswriter. That would be the intellectually honest thing to do.
Loser.
