Same here, esp. when the unprecedented newness & confusion is taken into consideration.
Only $4M of space? Where the hell has all the money gone, into pass-rushers?
My suggestion: because of his dual-income status that ensures his progeny never has to work again
for the next couple of centuries, Brady might want to consider a contract restructuring
that allows Bill to obtain the pieces needed to make a real, honest run at one more SB.
Because as it is currently comprised, this team will be nothing more than 1 & Done, if that.
If Plan A isn't an option, then why the hell did Bill ass-ume the salaries of Ochostinko & Fat Albert?
There were/are cheaper, just-as-good WRs & DLmen available who don't occupy almost 7 figures of cap space.
Captain has a screwy and nutty way of looking at things. Bill Belichick decided in 2008 that the Super bowl club had grown old and slow as Defensive Big Plays were not occurring with any frequency.
Over the past two seasons he has stripped down and then rebuilt the entire team devoting more effort to the older Defense, and only putting a relatively few choices into the Offense until this past Draft. He still has managed to field winning clubs despite the rebuilding, averaging just over 13 wins/season over the past five years. It is attribute to his superior coaching, that no 5-11 seasons were necessary.
While the 2010 team was too young and immature, it still managed to be a Top Ten team in the only defensive stat that counts. It finished Eighth in Points Allowed, as the youngsters gained lots of experience. Plus the sure sign that it was coming along splendidly, was the league high turnover differential.
But it went into the Playoffs with the entire Defensive line on IR, save for Vince Wilfork and gave up both rushing yardage and passing yardage to a Team it had demolished 45-3 only a few weeks before. That was when it was relatively healthy, (minus Bodden and Spikes), and had a defensive line instead of Vince and a handful of street FA never-weres and never-will-bes, while DLs Wright, Brace, Deaderick and Pryor were in the infirmary.
The sign that Belichick was satisfied with his emerging Defense was that he turned his draft attention almost entirely to aiding the highest scoring Offense in the League. Adding Solder and Cannon, the RBs, a blocking TE, and a talented reserve QB, to that squad can only help to insure that it remains a top Offense. This team is ready to win and win big.
Despite the caterwauling from the junior high, Street& Smith, would-be, draftnik coterie.
