The author recommends:
1. Restructure Junior Gallette (convert 12.5 million roster bonus to signing bonus): +10 million
2. Release Jahri Evans: +6 million
3. Release Curtis Lofton: +4 million
4. Release Broderick Bunkley: +2.88 million

Those are tough cuts.

Jahri Evans is your starting guard --48 consecutive starts since joining the Saints.

Lofton is your starting linebacker. Started 142 of the 144 games since he was drafted by the Saints.

Bunkley is your nose tackle.

The author went further on to suggest cutting Marques Colston should they need more space. Now that would hurt!

good player never been a elite WR but his 32 now and I don't think he has the career numbers he has now if he dose not play with brees in a offense that averages over 40 passes per game

Honestly, the Pats could do just fine if Revis and McCourty go. There are plenty of starting caliber FA options that could be had on the cheap.

A combination of Byron Maxwell, Brandon Flowers, Charles Tillman, Dawan Landry and/or Mike Adams could hold the fort for a year, cost $10 million on the cap rather than $20+ million, freeing up space to make improvements elsewhere.

Not to say I want this to happen, but I believe the real longterm core of this defense is its front 7 players (Jones, Hightower, Collins, hopefully Easley). I don't see Belichick sacrificing the ability to retain this core to retain an aging defensive back.

the pats are not in cap hell all they have to do is cut Revis and his 20 million dollar cap hit. rework wilfork and or Mayo and you can bring back everyone but 30 year old revis from a SB winning team puls draft picks

I keep seeing this on here and the media. I am not sure why this keeps getting repeated. If i remember correctly revis is due 20 mil in salary and he would count 25 mil against the cap. All the salary cap articles ive read fail to mention this but i am certain this was written into the deal to make it almost impossible for the pats to pick up his option. That would make his cap number 2.5 mil more than brady and gronk combined

Revis deal was written to give either party an out after a one year deal or to force a negotiation on a long term deal if both parties were happy with the relationship after the one-year trial run. I think it's a fair assumption that both parties were happy with year one and are motivated to do a long-term deal that is fair to both.

Notwithstanding all the media clucking: I don't think Revis wants to go to another team in free agency as long as he can get a competitive offer from the Pats.
