I'm sure all the appropriate research was done and this is a good hiring. Brady can afford the best.

He's represented Brady and Belichick before.

  • Brady v. NFL — Successfully represented a class of NFL players in an antitrust action which led to the end of the 2011 NFL lockout.
  • Belichick v. NFL, et al. — Represented NFL Head Coach in litigation over changing teams
He also has a connection to the Boston Celtics for whatever that's worth.

He has litigated some of the most famous sports-antitrust cases in history, including McNeil v. the NFL, the landmark antitrust jury trial which led to the establishment of free agency in the National Football League (NFL), and Brady v. NFL, which led to the end of the 2011 NFL lockout.

Sounds like they have some history, too.

That is a nightmare for the NFL.

The lawyer who forced free agency. And the NFLPA's lawyer in the most recent lockout.

Also the lawyer who represented the NFLPA in the Ray Rice case and deposed Robert Goodell.

THIS is why Wells went nutso this afternoon...

Oh yes, and a perpetual hemorrhoid on the posterior of the NFL.

@GregABedard According to Schefter. Brady has hired Jeffrey Kessler? Is he good?

Mr. Kessler is also one of the most prominent lawyers in the country regularly engaged in high-profile sports litigation. He has litigated some of the most famous sports-antitrust cases in history, including McNeil v. the NFL, the landmark antitrust jury trial which led to the establishment of free agency in the National Football League (NFL), and Brady v. NFL, which led to the end of the 2011 NFL lockout.

Impressive Profile

Kessler? Yep, Tommy is goin to the mattresses on this.
I don't know if this has been posted already but i heard zolack a couple of minutes ago on NFL radio. he said Brady is absolutely livid and is looking at a defamation law suit. He also said hes never seen Kraft so angry, and between the both of them the summer is going to be filled with lawsuits and counter lawsuits.

OH one other thing, the opener will be treated like a regular season game. No stages, no concert, no pregame interviews, no banner, no Nothin

Sounds like a heavy hitter to me. I was gonna post some highlights of his wiki page (I know, Wikipedia...whatever, 99% of the time it's spot on) but there's too much to highlight.

Don't worry man, I got your back

Kessler became known as one of the most prominent sports lawyer in the country as he became regularly engaged in high-profile sports litigation.[7] He litigated some of the most famous sports-antitrust cases in history while at Weil, including McNeil v. the NFL, the landmark antitrust jury trial which led to the establishment of free agency in the National Football League (NFL).[8] He also handled numerous other sports law cases for such clients as the National Football League Players Association, the National Basketball Players Association, the Arena Football League Players Association, the National Hockey League Players Association, the Major League Baseball Players Association, the NFL Coaches Association, Players, Inc., the Women's Tennis Benefit Association and Adidas. Kessler represented various classes of NBA, NFL, AFL and MLS players, and several professional leagues, the now defunct North American Soccer League and United States Football League, as well as the Cities of San Diego and Oakland, and Alameda County, in various sports law disputes.[9] He also successfully represented Latrell Sprewell in his controversial suspension arbitration
He continues to be one of the leading experts on antitrust law, intellectual property and other complex litigations, with a bevy of clients including Panasonic and JVC. His unparalleled reputation as a sports lawyer has continued to grow as well. Aside from the numerous clients mentioned above, many of whom he continues to do regular work for, he has also recently done work on behalf of the National Invitation Tournament, CAA Sports, Wasserman Media Group, SCP Worldwide, and Pro Bono work for South African Amputee Sprinter Oscar Pistorious and Castor Semanaya.[11] Both runners were successfully represented by Kessler and allowed to continue their careers despite challenges from the IAAF. Kessler negotiated the current free agency/salary cap systems in the NFL, NBA, and successfully represented Michael Vick[12] in his roster bonus arbitration, Plaxico Burress in his Signing Bonus arbitration, and numerous other players in successful arbitrations and “special master cases” as well.[13]

F*** yes, all signs point to Brady obliterating Goodell.

Perhaps they'll use the argument that the NFL came down on Brady so hard as revenge for being the lead plaintiff in the anti-trust case during the 2011 lockout. It might even be true.
