Pats in need of clear minds

One day these Patriots will get it. Bill Belichick will get it. Tom Brady will get it. Wesley Britt will get it, and he wasn’t even here last season.
Forget beating the Broncos. Forget anything remotely related to beating the Broncos. And definitely forget about revenge.
If one thinks beating the Denver Broncos Sunday night - which is not going to happen - avenges last year’s playoff defeat, you’re living on Happy Street. The Patriots do not beat Denver, never have, never will.
Yeah, they have beaten the Broncos 15 times in their 47-year rivalry (lost 25 times, too), but that win number sounds extraordinarily high. Consider that nine of those victories came before anyone of today’s Patriots was even born.
The Broncos are the Pats’ all-time nemesis, the ultimate back-breaking, season-spoiling, curse-provoking, mother of all heartbreakers. Always have been, always will. Even Belichick can’t beat ’em. Three Super Bowl titles, and his teams are 2-4 against the Broncos, losing four of the past five, including that awful, 24-13 debacle in January.
Revenge? Ya kidding me! It’s been a lifetime of revenge against these guys ever since the Pats’ first game, a 13-10 loss on Sept. 9, 1960, the AFL inaugural at BU Field before 21,597 forever-cursing fans. Their revenge that season, a 31-24 loss in the rematch.
From Frank Tripucka to Jake Plummer, the Pats have not, do not, can not, will not beat the Broncos. It’s history, it’s ordained, it’s over.
