This year, a bunch of QBs put up ridiculous, Madden-like numbers. Consider:
Brees: 71.2%, 5476 yds, 8.3 y/a, 46 td, 14 int, 110.6 rating
Rodgers: 68.3%, 4643 yds, 9.3 y/a, 45 td, 6 int, 122.5 rating
Brady: 65.6%, 5235 yds, 8.6 y/a, 39 td, 12 int, 105.6 rating
Stafford: 63.5%, 5038 yds, 7.6 y/a, 41 td, 16 int, 97.2 rating
Romo: 66.3%, 4184 yds, 8.0 y/a, 31 td, 10 int, 102.5 rating
E.Manning: 61.0%, 4933 yds, 8.4 y/a, 29 td, 16 int, 92.9 rating
Ryan: 61.3%, 4177 yds, 7.4 y/a, 29 td, 12 int, 92.2 rating
Guys who put up stats that would have blown away the NFL not too long ago aren't even going to sniff the top 3 in MVP voting this year.
Tom Brady just put up one of the greatest seasons in NFL history at the QB position. And yet he's going to finish a distant 3rd in the MVP race. Last year he was the unanimous MVP (only time in league history). And yet this year, he had 1325 more yards and 3 more TD, and, with a far worse defense than last year, still took this team to a 13-3 record.....and he will be an MVP afterthought.
And, just for fun, look at Brady's last two seasons combined:
65.7%, 9135 yds, 8.3 y/a, 75 td, 16 int, 108.0 rating, 27-5 record
Insane. Probably the best 2-year stat line in league history. Maybe only these few come close:
- P.Manning (04-05): 67.5%, 8304 yds, 8.7 y/a, 77 td, 20 int, 113.0 rating, 26-6 record
- Rodgers (10-11): 67.0%, 8586 yds, 8.8 y/a, 73 td, 17 int, 112.1 rating, 24-6 record
- Brees (10-11): 69.7%, 10096 yds, 7.7 y/a, 79 td, 36 int, 100.7 rating, 24-8 record
