I don't have as much faith in Blount as you seem to. He played well only against sorry competition last season and even the season before. It's no surprise some of his best games were against the soft as pie Colts. Hell, Jonas Gray ran for 201 against them and he can't even find a job in the NFL now. I don't hate Blount and would rather have him at this point than not, but I'd prefer someone better ideally.I feel like I am the only one who like our duo of Lewis and Blount.
Lewis was so dynamic last year. Such a perfect fit to this offense. And Blount is a good compliment to Lewis'style and a good second half closer.
There are obvious injury concerns but I think White and Donald Brown should offer some depth.
If we lose them both again we are probably screwed but I think that is true of most positions on most teams. Losing your top two guys anywhere will be a tough thing to overcome.
We also have Foster who could beat out White.
As much work as Bolden puts in on STs I hope Brown and White/Foster beat him out because we need the depth more at RB and hopefully the STs can be found elsewhere.
He was never a HOFer.Didn't this guy used to be a hall of famer? I mean he used to be really good only 2 years ago. What happened to him?
Reid is hoarding talented RBs in KC. I hope BB can get Reid to do him a solid sometime soon.
I like Lewis more than Blount. And that 2 year thing isn't as accurate as it used to be. AP rushing for 2K one year after his is an example.Hey SignBrady. Lewis is coming of the ACL and should be decent, but we've seen enough examples now that a player coming off of this injury isn't really all the way back until season 2. So while I think Lewis will be a spark, I am tempering enthusiasm. I do think Brown can make the team, but we'll see. I love that guy, but an underrated aspect that made Faulk and Woody so valuable was durability. They played more than not. Lewis has not yet shown that at the NFL level.
Where I really disagree with you is when you talk about Bolden. He's a stud in ST's. He battled injury last year, so he was just okay. But in 2014, his ST's play swung games...multiple. But if you look at just the SD game from that season, as one example, I'd say we won that game because of the momentum swing from the blocked punt, in which he also injured their pro bowl punter and, while I'm obviously never rooting for injuries, that one was HUGE. Prior, NE couldn't get anything going offensively. Brady was sub par the majority of that game. That INT before half was pathetic. But I slightly digress. BB values ST's as much as the other phases of the game so, provided Bolden is fully healthy and regains form in TC, he should make the team easily. We can likely get decent ST's play from other players, but will they be game changers? Bolden has made game-changing plays.
Side note: I read that Butler played 29 percent of ST's plays last season. That was interesting to me, but it is something that I hoe is not repeated. We were extremely lucky that he and Ryan stayed healthy all season long, much like Collins and High in 2014, as we heavily relied in just them in the 4-2-5 that season (and last).
You point to one player, one who is a physical specimen, and say that the two-year thing is overblown when we've seen far more players needing two years to be back to form? Interesting. And no, I'm not saying we solve injuries by getting a better player. I don't even know where or how you could have inferred that from what I actually said. I was strictly talking about his prowess as a runner. I just don't like Blount enough as a main back anymore . . . or at least not as much as you seem to. The guy does okay, but when is the last time he had even a good game against a good team? His YPC is nothing to write home about. He's like the Chandler Jones of running backs in that regard, great against crap teams and almost a non-factor against good ones. And as far as Brown, there's no guarantee he even makes the final roster. And based on his NFL career thus far, it would not be a stretch to predict he gets cut.I like Lewis more than Blount. And that 2 year thing isn't as accurate as it used to be. AP rushing for 2K one year after his is an example.
Also your solution to the injury risk is to magically come up with a better player where as I am just advocating carrying a better back up RB at the cost of a STer.
And don't get me wrong I love Bolden as a STer but carrying 6+ STs only guys cost us depth we needed last year at RB. I'll keep Bolden if he beats out Donald Brown as a pure RB or if we carry 5 RBs. But keeping 5 RBs will cost at another position.
For 1.5 million I would have liked him here.
I'm pretty sure it'll be the same with him. I like the dude, but I would like a big back who is also a bit more explosive earlier in his run.Lets hope Blount doesn't look like he's running in sand again....
Pat's already have a Foster at RB.....Two would be confusing
I'm assuming that you've gotten a long look at him judging by your screen name. The big gamble could be in attempting to assess trade value, and that goes for both teams. Either way, I think most here would like the idea.I'd like to see NE get Bishop Sankey via trade from TEN.

Why f*ck with the formula now? Lol But you're right, as I can totally see Bill saying that when approached about Foster. The mind of Bill Belichick:
Shoot, for 1.5m dollars, I can sign two starting RBs, and still have money left over for a developmental LB with a high special teams ceiling on the practice squad.
(for the record, I'd have taken a shot on Foster at that price too)
