Exactly. I'm not a huge Cam Newton fan by any stretch of the imagination but his coach loves him, his teammates love him, and he has time to work on his game so it meshes better with a McDaniels offence (and vice-versa)
From Mike Reiss' piece it sounds like he was a victim of the Eagles system as much as he was a victim on the field. As 50-yard-line noted, they practiced with the Eagles so they likely see something in him that warrants his signing.
I think Romeo is a great coordinator but doesnt have what it takes to be a head coach. He wouldnt be the first, look at all of the great coordinators out there who stepped up to HC, did poorly, but suceeded when they went back to the coordinators role.
If the Jets do have to cut salary, I would say that Pennington may be one of the first to go. However, would he sign on with the Pats knowing full well that he'd be riding the pine for the entire season, or would he go to a team where he'd have a chance of getting playing time?
