So many draft prospects have been falling due to failed (or diluted) drug tests:
DT Timmy Jernigan
OLB Telvin Smith
LB Christian Jones
QB Zach Mettenberger
OL Seantrel Henderson
DT Anthony Johnson
Besides the obvious, "what were they thinking?!" Should the Pats eliminate them?
Big Boards are overrated, I think. They're a great read, for sure. They're a great reference point, it's true.
But it is utterly impossible to build a concensus list. Even the media can't agree, much less fans. But to build one board, through the lenses of every NFL team is impossible.
Just saying.
Jonathan Bales wrote a fascinating article on QB hand size that suggests a QB's success can sometimes be determined by his hand size in relation to his height. He came up with a mathematical formula for his theory. Therefore, I did the math on the incoming rookie QB group. The results were this...
QB Mike Glennon (Bucs) is on the trading blocks, according to most media outlets.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pats ship another late rounder to Bucs for him.
What say you?
1. Houston Texans – QB Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M
…Unable to fetch the offer they want, Texans pull the trigger.
2. Saint Louis Rams – DE Jadeavon Clowney, South Carolina
….Rams will field offers but this pick puts their D over the top.
3. Jacksonville Jaguars – WR Sammy Watkins, Clemson
…Jags...
1st round –DE/OLB Jeremiah Attaochu, Georgia Tech
…With depth at both LB and DE a real concern, the obvious selection is a hybrid that
can be both. The Patriots offseason focus has been pass defense. With Free Agency
upgrades to the secondary, the front seven needs attention in the draft...
1st round –WR Brandon Coleman, Rutgers
… I know, it won't be popular. Critics of the Pats will view this pick as a ridiculous
“reach” and yet another example of Bill Belichick’s obsession with former Rutgers
players. I see it differently. A year ago, everybody, particularly Mel Kiper, had...
2010 NFL Mock Draft
Round 1
1. St. Louis Rams – QB Sam Bradford, Oklahoma
The Rams want a King’s ransom for #1 but can’t get it.
2. Detroit Lions – DT Ndamukon Suh, Nebraska
Your new (Animal House) Delta name is…t-SUH-nami!
3. Tampa Bay - DT Gerald McCoy, Oklahoma
He’s widely...
I propose a trade! Make that a 3-way trade:
The Rams send #1 (Bradford) to Cleveland.
Tampa Bay sends #3 (McCoy) to St. Louis.
Cleveland sends #7 (Bryant?) to Tampa Bay.
Cleveland also owes the Rams a #1 next year
and sends the Bucs a #2 this year, as well.
Unprecedented? Yes...
2010 NFL Mock Draft
Round 1
1. St. Louis Rams – QB Sam Bradford, Oklahoma
Bradford over Suh is one to talk about for years to come.
2. Detroit Lions – DL Ndamukon Suh, Nebraska
Okung is a nice option. But Ndamukon Suh is a no-brainer.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – DT Gerald McCoy...
With rumors swirling about Julius Peppers becoming a Patriot, the prospect that the Panthers seek to replace him with is likely Michael Johnson. Carolina sent John Fox to his Pro Day workout, where he is said to have “dazzled scouts.”
Yet Patsfans will have nothing to do with him, even as...
Does anybody else think that the easiest solution for both teams would be a Cutler for Peppers trade? I would expect the Panthers to throw in a #2, and for the Broncos to draft Mark Sanchez with their own #1. Is it just me, or is this very logical?
*3 team trade, involving KC, Tampa Bay and Denver:
Denver surrenders Jay Cutler for the #3 overall pick.
Tampa Bay acquires Cutler for their #19 and #50 picks
this year, plus a #1 in 2010.
The Chiefs pick up #19, #50 and the Bucs #1 in 2010.
Round One
1. Detroit – SSLB Aaron...
All of the arguments for not drafting Percy Harvin go something like this:
:disagreement:
“The Patriots won’t draft Percy Harvin because...
(Insert your favorite Myth here.)”
Well, I’m here to debunk those Myths, whether or not they draft him.
Myth #1 – Scoring more points isn't...
*Blockbuster trade: KC sends #3 and TE Tony Gonzalez to Philly
for the Eagles #21, #28, and a conditional 2nd round pick in 2010.
**Draft day trade: Skins swap #13 for the Bears 1st and 3rd.
***Draft day trade: Pats Matt Cassel to the Texans for #15.
Round One
1. Detroit – DE...
1. Speed/athleticism. You can’t teach it, nor find it late.
2. Versatility. The more you can do, the more you can do.
3. Even as a reserve, he frees a roster spot for others by playing multiple roles.
4. He has to be accounted for on every single play.
5. He frees teammates from...

I know, it seems unthinkable! The Patriots already have
the best QB in the league, hands down! So why would
a retired legend even be a consideration for this team?
Simple. Favre is faced with the unpleasant situatin of
having to sort through teams that might be interested,
bearing in...
So, this lady friend of mine asks me for my help on a football
related matter. It appears she belongs to a website called
hoverspot.com. The question? "Is this actually Colt Brennan
(UserId=2441503), or is it a scam?" I'll let the reader decide.
I took some heat for predicting 6 RB's in round one. So, I backed off. But it got me wondering, "when was the last time that that happened?" To my knowledge, it was 1990.
What I found most interesting in that particular draft was that the 1st RB
off the board was a total bust (Thank you...
