While it may be true that OLB is not the most important part of a pass rush that doesn't mean that the Pats shouldn't be trying to improve their OLB position.
There are certainly some posters in the camp where they see a Ware or a Matthews and want the same kind of impact edge rusher. I'm more...
Most of these draft 'gurus' want a team to pick the highest ranked player (by them) on the board at a team's position of need (determined by them). It's a big stretch for me to believe that a Kiper knows who the best players are to say nothing of whether they know what the Pats need.
Given that during the preseason I was wondering why on earth the Pats used a 3rd pick on him, Price looked great today. For some reason I think he needs to put on some more muscle though. At any rate, he earned himself a long look next preseason.
Yeah, I was reading an All-Rookie opinion piece recently and Larson was listed as the top rookie guard. I was trying to remember where I knew that name from when it dawned on me that he was drafted by the Pats.
It's hard to know whether he was misevaluated, wasn't a fit for the system, or was...
Zoltan had a nice day. He got a lucky roll on one punt but was unlucky on another where an inside the 10 punt turned into a touchback. Over he past few years punter has been a weak spot for the Pats. Nice to see they have an average to above average punter now. (BTW, the Vikings punter was...
Sports would be the one area in which I would think a local paper like the Globe would be able to remain relevant, but as much as I hate to admit it I find myself increasingly looking at the ESPN coverage first.
It doesn't help that the Globe's worst coverage is of the Pats. I still like Ryan...
I think the answer to that is no. I think Bodden and Warren will be back, but I think Faulk is done (hate to say that). Otherwise, they need to give all these 1st and 2nd year players a chance to see how good they can be.
Also, don't forget that they'll probably get a 3rd rd. comp pick for...
By the way, something important that I don't think has been talked about enough...that this is a sign that BB thinks this team has a chance to make a run in the playoffs.
One thing I was worried about with Moss going to the Vikes is that he might have been giving up on the season. Who knows if...
I have no trouble talking myself into this. He's not replacing Moss. The Pats are effectively going to be a team without a #1 receiver. Depth is the key.
With some combination of Branch, Welker, Hernandez, Tate, and Gronkowski/RB/Edelman they will be able to spread the field well enough and...
I'm kind of surprised the idea of Branch coming back isn't getting any more attention and the idea isn't getting more love on this board.
It's the only realistic upgrade that can be made to the receiving core this year (sorry folks, Jackson is a pipe dream). I don't see BB taking a flyer on...
Interesting, I wonder if Mayo will replace Maroney as the most polarizing player to Patriots fans...
Personally, he seems to me to be on the good-not-great career path. He's fast, a good tackler, but only has OK instincts and doesn't seem to be a big hitter.
It's hard to argue with 16...
The lesson for me on this one is how much BB values 'Hard Work' and 'Consistency' above even talent.
Maroney at his best was better than BJGE at his best. But Maroney at his worst was worse. BJGE worked hard in practice and in games to make the most of his limited talent.
I guess that BB...
Why does anyone give this story any credence? Is anyone on the record about this one way or other? I didn't thunk so.
How about we all agree not to talk about Mankins until he comes back to the team? I'm with BB on this one. I'm interested in the Patriots. Mankins is currently not a Patriot...
Re: Reiss reporting Jarvis Green to be cut....
...answering someone else's question, but hey...
I think you cut one of either Deaderick or Love. Probably Love.
As of today, Jarvis Green has to be considered a better DE for the Pats system than Brace, Deaderick or Love. There is no way...
Re: Who is the first Patriot with a Patriot SB ring to get inducted into the HOF
"Lock" is too strong a word for Curtis Martin, but I do think he'll get in. I'll buy that Faulk goes first and Bettis is right behind him, but Martin will be next. His numbers are better than okay--4th in...
Re: Who is the first Patriot with a Patriot SB ring to get inducted into the HOF
I took another look at Curtis Martin's stats and it changed my mind--he'll get in. I knew he had great career numbers, but he never won a SB and never felt to me like he had a season where he was the best running...
There has been too much turnover in the roster to accurately judge how good they are going to be. The Pats could have something like 20 rookies or 2nd year players on the active roster.
They could be great, but the young guys need to come along perfectly. The hope has to be that Brady, Moss...
