If Gronk was struggling... it's only when you compare him now vs. him in 2011 or 2014. He looks slower, but is obviously battling injuries and needing to fight off multi-coverage on every route. With a bit of rest and some reinforcements (Edelman and Gordon) taking the heat off him, he'll be...
At this point in Brady's career, I'd rather have the Pats tank it for a high draft pick if he goes down early in the season. In that scenario, Kap would be a great addition.
Call me crazy, but if we're only looking to replace goal line / short yardage duties, I wouldn't mind seeing Ripkowski. BB had him in a week ago, wouldn't mind seeing him line up at HB.
I know I'll get flamed for this, but he's gonna be the next Rob Johnson. When everything is working he seems like he has all the tools, but he does not have elite toughness. Not playing with the non-throwing shoulder injury after 3 years of waiting for an opportunity is a huge red flag.
Agreed. White, Lewis, and Burk got split out wide quite often, but I thought we'd see more 2 back sets than we did.
The slot seemed clogged, so I'm suprised we didn't see more bubble screens or quick outs.
This is only one game folks.
Losing Edelman hurt, but the KC gameplan prioritized stopping short passes and Gronk. The deep ball was made to appear available, but ultimately was often disguised well or covered almost perfectly.
Cooks did not run crisp routes and doesn't yet seem to understand...
I think will go as follows:
Gillislee - 350
White - 350
Burkhead - 350
Lewis - 200
Skill, versatility, reliability, and durability will dictate snaps. Gillislee is the best pure runner, but his receiving skills are unproven. White is the best receiver but can't run or pass protect as well...
I think top 5 target rankings go from what would have been:
Gronk>Edelman>Hogan>Cooks>RBs
to
Gronk>Cooks>Hogan>RBs>Amendola
I think Hogan will start off getting motr targets, but, Cooks will overtake him once he gets Brady's trust.
Burkhead is a legit every down back that's been looking for a chance to play. No way in hell he's coming here to replace Bolden.
The guy is 5'10 218 lbs. That's at least 10 lbs on White and 20 on Lewis. He can run inside like Lewis, but with more power and durability. I love White, but he's...
I love FO, but I'm not sure if their DVOA stat properly accounts for "bend but don't break" style defenses. Their ratings can be insightful, but like any metric, can't be viewed in a vacuum.
The biggest problem is that BB isn't a fortune teller. Otherwise, maybe he'd have kept CJ and shipped Collins off. Then maybe we'd have enough of a pass rush to force some mistakes.
Speaking of which, can this defense get a god damned turnover?
************ they just held one of the more skilled offensive clubs in the league to 17 points (forget their early season stats).
Goal line stand in the first half?
Safety in the second?
The pass rush isn't as potent as last year, but for chrissakes this D can win. They're only going to get...
I'd love to hear Miguel's take on this situation.
Couldn't the Patriots trade Brady after 2017 and transfer the responsibility for his base salary to the team that gets him? IIRC, his last two are base: 14; signing bonus: 7; roster bonus: 0. Which would mean a 14 million cap hit for trading him...
Nailed it. For those who forgot and wondered about trading Brady, his base is 1 mill and signing bonus is 13 this year and next, then it goes up to 14 base / 7 signing bonus 1 roster bonus. Trade this year means 40 mill cap hit...they can defer at least one year but I'm not sure if they can roll...
Can't understand the FO hate here. They have some of the best metrics out there. And they use them effectively as tools in combination with qualitative data for analysis. Saying something as absolute as "stats are useless" is equally foolish as relying solely on stats. Your observations will...
His contract expires after this season and Melvin Gordon is slowly starting to come around. I can't see him going back to an uncompetitive team. Yes, 32 is old for a running back in general, but less so for a 3rd down back. If Sproles can get resigned by PHI at $4.5 mill, no way some other team...
