From a PR standpoint abstaining was the best move for the Pats.
If they voted to remove it, it would be seen as admitting we didn't deserve to win the game in 01.
If they voted to keep it, then it would be interpreted as upholding the rule only because we benefited from it.
Catch 22...
Wearing Pats gear would today would be a deathwish.
For the next month I'm taking to expressing my fan support anoymously via internet.
I'll break out the Brady jersey when pre-season starts.
I wish I had your resolve. This team was talented. One more lucky bounce and we would have won. Speaking of which, how many punts did the Giants luck out on and pin us back near tyhe goaline?
For what it's worth, we can always say Tom Brady won the AFC championship game 5 times. The buildup to the Superbowl is pretty fun as well while it lasts.
AFC East Champs. Great, we've won 9 of 11.
#1 seed. Good but we haven't won it all during the last 3 times we've had it.
AFC Champs. Haven't converted in our last two.
Next year is going to be strange. What are our realistic expectations? We can win all three of these things and in the back...
What can we even expect from this team going forward? They could even go undefeated next regular season and it could be all for nought. These teams lack the magic that the early '00s teams had.
It's going to be a very different experience watching this team play next year. What can we expect?
New Orleans, probably bouncing from bar to bar between quarters.
Most here are pulling for Eli, so Pats fans are in short supply. Still, outside of Boston this is probably the best place to celebrate a victory.
Honestly Irsay and Peyton had better cut this out. It will be MONTHS before the Colts can actually make a roster move with Peyton. The NFL can't allow this story to overshadow the Superbowl.
The focus should be on the Pats and Giants. Legacies are at stake. Let's worry about Peyton later.
That's a strange list with 2 Nascar drivers in the top 3 and Shaq checking in at number 4. Plus, Brady's dislikeability is almost as high as Lebron's. How is that possible?
Awesome. Look's like I'll be able to see most of the games this year, and all of the important ones. The Brady/Manning matchup wasn't televised in New Orleans last year for some reason.
Thanks for sharing.
Sounds more like 6 years of solid, but not great football.
Can't win the SB every year, but we were always in the mix. We'll never see this type of consistency again. There's more cause for joy here than lament.
No.
Granted he had a bad game, but was it his fault we couldn't get any pressure? Was it his fault Chung botched the fake punt? Was it his fault Crumpler dropped the TD and all the other drops we had on the day?
Re: Jay Glazier Tape (merged)
It amazes me the way the media goes after this team. Glazer digs up some shoddy video that conclusively proves nothing, and he holds it up as evidence that the Patriots cheated before the Jets!
Can't beat them on the field so there must be some other way, right Jay.
