It's easy, and only takes a few moments. He may be desperate for a ring, but there are a few hurdles before I think anyone should make a remark like that. Firstly, if it is true that he's talking anywhere in the 5-6 million range for 3 years, he will never be CLOSE to becoming a Patriot. Way too much money at his age for the name... NO value at all there..NOT going to happen. The other reason is like a lot of players on the downside, I think he believes his playing is much better than it really is. Becoming more of a role player may be very hard for him. Players that have this attitude sometimes find it hard to make matches with teams as this can be a problem. Sure, players wish to play, but when their skills are declining and they want to still be the big cheese, it can make for some unneeded headaches. We'll see if these obstacles can be overcome.Spikes will come to NE over San Fran all day long. Why? He is desperate to get into the playoffs, because he has never played a playoff game in his career. I wonder if that makes him bad luck?
Talk of 20 million over three years for Spikes.
Way too much for my liking. He's nowhere near as quick as he was either...
I asked for a link on those as that to me would be a deal breaker right there...seems more dream numbers than anything close to reality. I agree..maybe 2/5...but that might even be too much....again, money is only one hurdle, his attitude needs to be more team and less self centered. Are you sure about those #s??
If anyone is stupid enough to offer him that contract, then they can have him.
First, I would fly Spikes to Foxborough for a physical/workout/interview. Next, if he passed all 3 phases, then I would offer him a 2-year contract, for $5M total.

I'd really like to see that as it seems very unrealistic...I've tried to find the link (deleted I-T browser history). It was either on Megladoons, RotoWorld or BayArea.
I'd sign most linebackers for the terms you've mentioned Cap'n... Spikes or not. But the fact is... had he been looking for reasonable terms, he'd have been snapped up by now.
Colvin is supposedly looking for similar terms to his Pats terms for this coming season prior to his cut. That, and his injury means he's not likely to head anywhere soon.
