When did Matt Walsh leave the Patriots?

I love Florio's take on it now. Mean old Patriots fans are doing everything they can to discredit Matt Walsh because he dared to strike an ominous tone about the team.

You Patriots fans are so mean and nasty. Don't pick on Matt Walsh just because he may have gotten the dates he worked for the Pats wrong. LEAVE MATT ALONE ;)

Felger's enjoying it - "if you care about the truth you want to hear what Matt Walsh has to say" blah, blah, blah. He's hinting about Walsh possibly having evidence (although I think Felger is guessing) of something with SB 36, whether it's videotapes of Rams' practice or maybe from the earlier game (I added that, Felger didn't say that). Of course, that would be stolen property if he does.

Anyway, Felger is having fun with it although he seemed to be reaching more than stating fact.

Leave Matt alone, he is my stodge. You can talk about him playing in the failed NFL-Europe but that would be unfair. That would be unfair. He is my stodge. We fling bull**** as a team. It unfair to blame only Matt.

Do we only hire video guys named Matt?

I had that question myself here's Matt Walsh, Matt Estrella, Matt Patricia too. Didn't he start in the video office. What's Dante Scarnecchia's son's name? Wanna bet it's Matt?

Swing and a miss. It's Steve.

I wanna see what he has to say. It sounds like he wants a big payday but if he comes in with evidence and proof then it may be an interesting read. Either way, I don't see the patriots' SB being taken away from them unless there's proof of it continuing to this day. What year did BB become the HC of the Pats? Wasn't it 01?

2000. They were 5-11.

If this guy has "evidence" and "proof" beyond his word, I would be shocked. Because that **** would be stolen property.

Actually it doesn't. Hate to break it to you but I live in IL and there are plenty of ppl here who respect what the Patriots have done. In fact, I rarely ever hear anything about spygate. The only time I do is from a friend who is actually a JETS fan, which is an explanation in itself. Far less ppl care about it then you want to believe.

Exactly, where are all the media on the jets saying they had permission to tape the Pats when the Patriots denied it? The ONLY people who are going after the Pats w/vengeance is bitter New Yorkers. The Yankees have a Senator come out w/proof that they cheated in how many World Series? where are all the stupid *asteriks hunters?

Read this over at ESPN. The guy seems to be looking for a payday from someone.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3226465

Read it. This guy is a scam artist. He lied twice in his online resume as a golf pro. First, he claims he was on his college golf team. The college claims no record of that. He obviously used that as a way of getting a gig as a golf pro. Second, he claims to have worked for the Pats thru 2003, when Pioli fired him. But in his goofy wedding announcement, he claims to have left the Pats in January 2002, before the 1st SB. But now he says he was on the sidelines at the SB. Very weird. Sounds like Scott Thomas Beauchamp.

In addition, he "suggests" he has video evidence but doesn't say he does (any guesses ;)) and realizes that if he has it, it could be considered stolen property (duh). Moving on . . .

What really struck me about that article was how transparently he is asking for the payday...."Well, I COULD know all this juicy stuff and I MAY have actual stuff but I MAY not and oh, woe is me, there's no real INCENTIVE for me to talk. But boy, if I talked it MIGHT or MIGHT NOT be realllllly good. Too bad you can't pay my legal fees and indemnify me.....*sigh* oh, well, guess the secret goes with me to the grave."

Reads to me like he has a story he'd like to be paid not to tell - and nothing else.

it does look like the wedding story was incorrect in stating when he was fired. according to his bio, " he later joined the New England Patriots of the National Football League, where he served primarily as an Area Scout and Video Assistant from 1996-2003, being a part of two Super Bowl teams and winning a Super Bowl ring for Super Bowl XXXVI."

he probably does have some dirt, and he probably is sick of being a nobody. but he is right in being afraid of the "wrath of the pats" . i wouldnt like to be tied up in court forever either. the fact that he is afraid of being tied up in court however implies that his evidence is sketchy and would pose legal problems for him if he releases it. testimony is a different story however.
But the memo came out in 07 so this is a non-story!!

personally, i dont have much doubt that we stole signals back then. why the hell wouldnt we. In baseball, its considered an art form to steal signals. and untill the infamous 2007 memo, it was the same way in the nfl

there are a lot of things I will refrain from saying about this guy right now

More Matt Walsh, from ESPN

Mods, please merge if this is one too many Matt Walsh threads.

But here's some new stuff, from ESPN:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3226465

"No, the league has never called me," he said. "Neither have the Patriots. And really, I would be surprised if they did. Then all of a sudden -- I don't know how much the league or Patriots know about my stance or how I feel about things -- for them to put in a call to me, what are they going to say? Are they going to try and threaten me? Or say, don't talk about it? Then, they are putting themselves out there and looking bad as far as if I turn around and say, 'Hey, guess what, the league called me and said [we're] gonna take away your pension if you say anything about this.'"

Later, Walsh said his reference to a pension meant his 401k retirement plan.

They're going to take away his 401k plan?

Walsh said that when he worked with the Patriots, a very limited number of people within the organization were privy to details about the team's video practices, notably video director Jimmy Dee and Ernie Adams, Belichick's prep school friend and right-hand man.

Walsh said that during his tenure in New England, no taping was done without Dee's knowledge.
...
As for the prospect of Adams sharing insight into the suspicious practices, Walsh said: "You've got a better chance of him telling you who killed JFK than anything about New England. There are lots of stories there. He told me stories of things they used to do in Cleveland [where Adams assisted Belichick with the Browns]."

Ernie Adams, the cog that keeps the Nixon regime running!

"I'll be honest with you: I can't really be guilted into anything," he said. "Maybe after this whole thing, you don't think I have a conscience because of the people I was exposed to and what they had me doing.

Dear God, he makes it sound like he had to perform sex acts on animals! Or...maybe he did? Hmmm...

"Really, I just [have] no incentive to really talk to anybody, no reason to do it. For me, personally, I haven't really been able to see the gain in doing it."

No incentive ($) yet. That book deal's coming though Matt, just hang on!

He has family back in New England who, he said, could be in harm's way if he damages the Patriots with any information he might disclose.

Now this is the most ridiculous part of the whole article. In harm's way?? What does he think the Patriots are going to do, put a hit on his parents? Or is he afraid some Pats fan is going to jump his cousin in an alley? Jesus, let's tone down the melodrama.

Anyway lots more quotes and stuff in the article. He says he was fired by Pioli, that he still has season tickets with the Pats (?), and the most important thing: he refuses to say whether or not he has tapes.

I don't think Goodell is lying here. I think he got the tapes that were from last season and this preseason, destroyed them, and that's all. If it can be proven that Belichick was holding something back, then he might be in some hot water again.

Personally I'm rooting for Belichick to go in front of Congress: "It is what it is Senator."
