Rich Hill Breaks Down Cyrus Jones

Contract year! :D

I expect Ryan to have a good to great year and then leave via FA to some team that will pay him Vontae Davis money.. hopefully resulting in us getting a 4th round or so compensatory pick that are now tradeable

Yeah, I think you're right there. He's not really consistent enough to defend WR1s, but stick him on the #2 receiver and he'll do a great job. Plus he has fantastic ball skills, meaning plenty of interceptions for his stats.

With any luck he'll have a career year and we'll get a 3rd round comp pick in 2018 :)

So far the only negative news on him is that he grew up a Ravens fan ...
Not a problem ... rehab got real yesterday.

Yeah these are all good points. Ryan was solid, but not spectacular which is fine. It is important to stock up on CBs considering how often they get nicked up

good story on Cyrus from the Providence Journal. Like the detail that as a high school senior he was on championship teams in football, basketball and track, and won individual state titles running the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Sounds like a good bet to add a Lombardi someday.

Cyrus Jones' rise to NFL started at early age

Logan Ryan is also big film junkie and has almost the same numbers as Cyrus jones. so they drafted Ryan replacement. Jonathan Jones is also intriguing as prospect, so trading Ryan in midseason is not bad idea if no injuries.

The main issue with the idea of trading Logan Ryan is that we aren't going to get much back for him. I saw some very well respected posters throwing around a range somewhere between a 5th-6th round pick, and I hate to say it, but I'd have to agree. I just don't see him bringing in a 4th rounder.

I think it's much better to just ride out the remainder of his rookie pact on the cheap, which takes us through the end of this upcoming season. We can never have enough solid depth at the position, and he's certainly a viable CB3-4 at worst. No reason to rock the boat for that kind of trade compensation, unless they're damn sure that guys like Cyrus Jones and Darryl Roberts are definitely the real deal.

He'd have to have one of the best seasons in the history of the game to justify the kind of huge money deal that rivals guys like Darrelle Revis, etc--who have brought back a 3rd round comp pick in return.

Personally, I'm hoping for a 6th round comp pick for 2018, but I certainly hope that you're right! It's never a bad thing to get a semi-productive rookie deal on the cheap, even when a player leaves. It's pretty much how Belichick has managed to stay ahead of the curve (along with #12, of course).
