Thanks Steve,

I don't understand picking a RB in the 3rd round unless you have complete confidence in the O line and its depth.

IMO improving the O line improves the running game by default.

True..but are you definitely sure there won't be growth out of Mason and Jackson, are you sure Cooper won't be a major upgrade at one of the Guard positions? Are you sure an injury free off season and a full camp for Stork won't make a night and day difference? Are you sure Solder's return won't have a ripple effect across the line? Lastly, are you sure Scar coming back as a coach won't make at least SOME positive difference for the unit? If you answer yes to a majority of these , OK..you have a point. I personally cannot. I believe having a talented young RB who can run in-between the tackles is incredibly important considering blount is the only true back who can do that ..that we have. If Blount is injured at any point or loses steam..it doesn't matter how bad our oline is.

Unless Tyler Gaffney lights foxboro on fire this camp of course

DL's & DB's year after year.

Good post.

I do believe the O line will be in a much better place this season for all the reasons you stated. I also believe we should draft both an O line position and a RB but I put a much higher value on the O line. I would rather draft a RB later in the draft or trade up into the fourth round but would definitely use one of the early round picks for the Oline.

I also believe that a strong O line with an average RB provides better and more consistent results than an average O line with a strong RB.

using the FanSpeak composite:
60: R2P29 RB DERRICK HENRY ALABAMA
61: R2P30 WR STERLING SHEPARD OKLAHOMA
91: R3P28 DT JAVON HARGRAVE SOUTH CAROLINA STATE
96: R3P33 OLB KAMALEI CORREA BOISE STATE
196: R6P21 CB JAMES BRADBERRY SAMFORD
204: R6P29 OT JOHN THEUS GEORGIA
208: R6P33 CB MORGAN BURNS KANSAS STATE
214: R6P39 WR DANIEL BRAVERMAN WESTERN MICHIGAN
221: R6P46 QB JEFF DRISKEL LOUISIANA TECH
243: R7P22 CB BRANDON WILLIAMS TEXAS A&M
250: R7P29 DE ERIC LEE SOUTH FLORIDA

This is the first mock I really loved. Nervous about Nkemdiche but would be excited for this group. It even includes the QB I liked, Doughty.

The fanspeak composite posted by illegal contact would be equally as fine.

Steve, I appreciate the effort. Lots of work. Draft Mocks are fun because we all speculate.. Not to violently disagree with anyone's Mock, but I would throw my latest Mock on the table and why. I have come up with a few exercises as in Trades because with 11 picks, BB is going to have a field day trading this week.

I also think he is going to have to move some roster. We have just took on 14 shinny new Free Agents and tradees. Most are not just JAGS but day one contributors. We do have some excess players in some positions we will have to trade or cut. I am for the former.

To dissect this Draft I would put forth the follwing:

CB Eric Murray, Minnesota: My feeling is CB is a luxury at this point. We have a couple youngsters that have acquired NFL experience such as Justin Coleman and Darryl Roberts (who lined up as starting CB in the first pre-season game before inuring his wrist). I agree on a CB but a little later. Murray in Round two is too high IMO

DT Robert Nkemdiche, Ole Miss: This would be a steal. He has some Richard Seymour in him if you could get more consistency and if he grows up mentally. I would bundle #60+#61 to move up to get him higher in Round 2, but alas, I think he still goes Round 1 (caveat? He got caught with "Herbius Weedius" in his pee test and that has been kept quiet perhaps).

S/CB Sean Davis, Maryland: Spouting up the boards like a rocket. He is well gone before pick #91 Again, nice player to have but CB is a luxury (Safety?maybe)

RB Devontae Booker, Utah:Knee? We have three or four banged up RBs like Gaffney and Lewis. Might as well go for Dixon with no red crosses. Interchangeable three down backs with talent. Dixon has better stats than even Elliott.

OT Alex Lewis, Nebraska:OK at that pick. He is alright but can be exposed. A plodder with slow feet. We already have two of those who got beat by fast DE's.A possible turnstyle at OT.

WR Michael Thomas, Southern Mississippi:OK is sixth but there might be better at that slot? I have not heard or read much about this young man.

OLB Travis Feeny, Washington: OK but injuries and he has never played OLB. Can he cover?

OT Brandon Shell, South Carolina: Could be steal here but again, a plodder. We need more athletic OTs.

QB Brandon Doughty, Western Kentucky:A little insider info. If you liked Chad Pennington's arm, Chad would have a cannon compared to this kid. All the stats, none of the real thing.

WR Keyarris Garrett, Tulsa:Best pick of this Mock besides Nkemdiche. Yes times yes for this kid.

DW Toys latest MocK?

"Jaylon Smith no matter what" These medical reports have to be vetted by the Pats medical staff and I am sure they have done so already. Jaylon Smith is your 2016 first round pick weather he plays or not. He can red shirt and the Pats have beat the NFL who is trying to “fix” the playing field. He is also insurance is Collins or Hightower leave. in 2017.

Bill will trade no question. How and when no one can tell. I have added scenarios that might or might not work. Therefore for amusement here is my Mock with some Trades and Draft swaps .

With Kaufusi and Hargrave you have some significant disruption to take the place of the Easley “bust”. At 6’6” and 285 no reason Kaufusi can play inside some. What those picks do is allow the Pats to switch back and fourth from 4-3 to 3-4.

• Second Round, No. 60 Overall-JAYLON SMITH LB NOTRE DAME
Jaylon Smith is your 2016 first round pick weather he plays 2016 or not as long as 2017 is likely. He can red shirt and the Pats have beat the NFL who is trying to “fix” the playing field.

• Third Round #65. via TRADE- New England Patriots via Cleveland Browns-Patriots get 3rd round pick #65, 5th Round pick #141 and CB Justin Gilbert. Browns receive OG Josh Kline, C David Andrews, WR Aaron Dobson and N.E 3rd Round pick #91 plus N.E 7th Round pick #250: Patriots select: BRONSON KAUFUSI DE, BYU Can play DE/DT/OLB . Speed, size and mobility. 4.81 speed and 7.03 3 cone at 285 lbs and almost 6'7"

O.K. The Pats and Browns trade reclamation projects as a side bar to this deal with Dobson and Gilbert. A need for each Team is resolved. Don't hate me on it.

• Third Round #67 via TRADE-New England via Dallas. N.E. gets Dallas third round pick #67 plus 2017 Dallas 4th Round pick to replace League 2017 4th Round imposed penalty. Our #61 for the Cowboys so they can grab a QB at the end of Round 2. We get #67 Third Round, -Pats select-KENNETH DIXON RB LOUSIANA TECH

Best RB I have seen on tape this year not from Ohio State. Can Pass block and catch.

• Third Round, No. 96 Overall – Compensatory –JAVON HARGRAVE, DT, S.C. STATE
A poor man’s Aaron Donald. Might be the exact piece to replace Easley. Get him NFL reps.

• Fourth Round, No. 115 Overall –TRADE-via ATLANTA FALCONS FOR Fifth Round No. 141 Overall-Via Cleveland Browns, Sixth Round, No. 196 Overall – Via Houston Texans in Keshawn Martin trade, Sixth Round, No. 204 Overall – Via Chicago Bears in Jon Bostic, Martellus Bennett trades, -59 POINT TRADE VALUE= VERSUS 62 POINTS. The Falcons are desperate to gain added Picks- Pats select-JOE HAEG OT NORTH DAKOTA STATE
A little bit of Logan Mankins in his play. Not a limited athlete at OT. He can jump out on fast DE’s.

• Sixth Round, No. 208 Overall – Compensatory- DEVIN CAJUSTE H-BACK/WR STANFORD
WR/HB versatility. Bigger and faster than AH. A big WR we do not have. Red zone threat.Best WR three cone in Draft

• Sixth Round, No. 214 Overall – Compensatory- NICK RICHTER OT RICHMOND
Very underrated. Can play many positions. All CAA conference.

• Sixth Round, No. 221 Overall – Compensatory- KEVIN BYARD S/CB/PR MIDDLE TENNESSEE
Ball skills. Can return kicks.Has good size. Replaces another “bust” in Wilson. The annual BB Safety selection. Rising on the Boards.

• Seventh Round, No. 243 Overall – Via Houston Texans in Ryan Mallett trade- KEEENAN REYNOLDS RB NAVY
Bill’s binkie.

So we gain a pick for our smallish 2017 Draft class and go down two picks in 2016.We pick up a reclamation project CB of a top ten pick.

I'm pretty nervous about Nkemdiche, but it's a bold mock with different prospects. I like the effort, and I'd be tentatively hopeful to see how this one turned out.
