I posted one before. Here's the other:

2001 Patriots/Steelers
2002 Raiders/Titans
2003 Patriots/Colts
2004 Patriots/Steelers
2005 Steelers/Broncos
2006 Patriots/Colts
2007 Patriots/Chargers
2008 Steelers/Ravens
2009 Colts/Jets
2010 Steelers/Jets
2011 Patriots/Ravens
2012 Patriots/Ravens
2013 Patriots/Broncos
2014 Patriots/Colts
2015 Patriots/Broncos

In case you haven't figured out, that's the last 15 matchups for the AFC Championship Game.

My idea on the real reason is simple they setting up the bait and switch for next CBA negotiations. Get the players all scared about Goodells total power so they push harder to remove that and wind up giving in on $ demands.

I think they're still pursuing deflategate because they believe that something shady went down, and have the legal recourse to do so.

After spending so much money and going this far, it was more than obvious that they were going to see it through.

to what end are they going to see it though is the question.

still cannot believe we are still talking about this stupid case 13 months on now.

This whole thing could reap some unintended consequences for the NFL as the irresponsible misuse of their power will certainly be contested more and more as time goes on.. it is beyond a "reasonable mans" imagination that NFL decisions can be made this way...

I think they are pursuing because they know its there best chance not to get defamation suits against them, although saying that Brady still should.

This is how duels happened--stubborn pride and ego taken to a deadly conclusion maybe over something minor. Goodell accused and grandstanded over literally nothing then realized the facts made him look like a fool and trumped up the investigation and when Brady wouldn't take the rap Goodell kept on pursuing and trumping up the story hoping a court would bail him out and save his face. If he has to he will go to the international court in The Hague. It also is no longer the simple tale of air pressure drop in cold weather but instead the tale of a coverup and a "destroyed" cell phone.

If you want cheating and coverup, go after Peyton Manning.

Sadly, I think you are correct. I believe that many in the league office suffer from an extreme case of confirmation bias, and they believe that they are right and serving justice. What's needed from an arbitrator is someone who does not have pre-conceived notions and would weigh evidence with caution and fairly make a judgement. Unfortunately, the mental capacity of Goodell and others around him, along with their emotionally charged will to win at all costs, has reduced them to arguing like a bunch of Facebook members who are trying to change someone's mind on a political issue. Well, maybe he didn't deflate the balls, but that's not important. He obstructed an investigation. Well, even if he didn't do that, he lied. or he can't prove he's telling the truth. It's comical to see the moving goalposts, knowing that even if you had a secret video recording of the footballs in the Patriots bathroom showing nothing was done, they would still be looking for a suspension for some reason.

Unfortunately,

parity (at any cost) = NFL profit

I don't know what your first reason for the continued to pursue defamegate, is but this one ties into the conclusion that ive come to.
There are a group of owners including jerrah jones, the maras, the bolands, the owners of the vikings and texans that are sick of the patriots winning all the time. collectively they have more power than b kraft and have told goodell to wack the patriots as hard as possible in an attempt to stop the constant winning as you've shown in your post. If goodell doesn't they'll push for him to be replaced, so he does they're bidding. Theres been talk of this being a make up for spygate, that the hit the patriots took back in 07 was little more than a speed bump that didn't slow them down. this seems like a reasonable answer to why this is still being pursued along with the nfl trying to crush the union. People like jerry jones don't care if they ruin the legacy of one of the greatest of all time, or tarnish the reputation of another team. What they care about is having a shot at winning, winning equall more revinue and attention.

The NFL is pursuing Deflategate because an idiot is in charge of the NFL.

Yes, but only because the owners are forcing him to. Goodell is weak. He is being pushed around by the owners.

It's because the commissioner is not up to the job.

If the Patriots were screwing around with footballs, a guy who WAS up to the job of NFL commissioner would have quietly told them to knock it off or else, not get in front of cameras and pound his chest in front of the world and basically tell the world "look at me! I'm a tough guy commissioner and this is how *I* deal with the bunch of dirty cheaters!" Same is true for spygate.

THAT would be preserving the integrity of the game. Instead now you have an environment where the Patriots - or any successful team really - can't win. They can't win by what they did on the field, because they must have cheated. That doesn't sound like integrity to me.

It's relatively similar:

the run is even more impressive when you see it laid out like that.

That's easy to say when you're the dynasty.

I'm at the point where I'm ready to watch basket ball. Football is to stressful.
