Pete Prisco Strikes Again...

Remember, Prick-O also likes to go on and on about what an overrated coach Belichick is.

Wonderlic Scores:
  • Peyton Manning: 28
  • Tom Brady: 33
  • Eli Manning: 39
Maybe he had his Mannings confused?!

Manning is right at everything and when he's not there is always a fall guy.

"Prisco also cited Manning's ability to limit turnovers lately..."

Manning limited his turnovers by sitting on the bench from halftime on 11/15 to the second half of a game on 1/3. Playing 6 quarters of football over a 2 month period is a good way to avoid throwing INTs. Playing against bad pass defenses like SD and Pittsburgh doesn't hurt, either.
And he hands the ball off beautifully.

Is Prisco an ESPNer, because BSPN is doing some major spin doctoring this week. They spent an inordinate time discussing Brady being a crybaby, and today Felger and Mazz was shilling an ESPN piece that opines that All the stats that we like to use to show the gap between Manning and Brady can be explained, and really Manning is better or at least as good as Brady.

I have to admit that on the surface the guy did a good job of spin doctoring. Some of the stats actually seem to make some sense. However if you go beneath the surface just a bit you can see how stats were selectively used and as we all know you can use certain stats to make Dalton a better QB than Manning, Brady, AND Rodgers.

I'll just give you on example. He makes a big deal that the Pats won 3 of their superbowls by only a FG. He neglects to mention that if Veneteri didn't miss 2 FG's early in the game they never would have needed his game winner later. And neglect to mention the garbage time TD Philly got at the end of the game to get them to within 3 in a game the Pats fully controlled.

He mentions that both Manning and Brady have 2 picks at the end of playoff games. Yet ignores that one of Brady's was in the 2006 game in Indy when the Pats were down with under 30 seconds on their own 20 and Brady was firing up prayers, while Manning gave the ball to the Ravens for their OT win.

There are many other and a lot were clever, but definitely spin doctoring and stat manipulation of the highest order. Like Hitler was a really misunderstood, just let me give you the German unemployment stats between 1933 and 39 and you'll see what I mean.

I was stuck listening to that, and I have to admit that I got a chuckle out of it. I particularly loved the "Brady's won 4 playoff games without throwing a TD" one, given those 4 games:

2001 season v. Oakland. Snow game, with Brady running in a TD
2001 season v. Pittsburgh. Brady only plays part of the game because of his injury
2011 season v. Baltimore. Bad game for Brady, but he had a rushing TD
2013 season v. Indianapolis. Patriots win game 43-22 with Blount destroying the Colts on the ground

That is supposed to be a negative, according to the author....

I heard that interview this morning on EEI. and Prisco sounded like an absolute idiot.

D&C asked for an example of Brady's "inferior intelligence ", and Prisco mentioned Brady's pass that bounced off the Chiefs' defenders hands right to Edelman. So Minehan asked "didn't you see Manning's pass that hit William Gay right in the chest?", and Prisco went on the defensive and wouldn't answer.

For people who have no problem making a career of bashing athletes, some of these journalists have very thin skin

There were so much that you wanted to scream into the radio for. Did any callers repudiate any of what was said or were only the regular sheep allowed in. I was fortunate enough to be able to walk away after about 5 minutes.

Again it seems to me that BSPN is making a concerted effort to rehabilitate Manning at Brady's expense. HGH in never a story, but the back pages of NYC tabloids are.

The 4 second mark, Pete. Notice that Hali is stumbling coming out of his break. If he didn't stumble, he'd have been past the football. Because he's a ****ty cover LB dropping back, his team almost gets lucky.

Yeah, but even so isn't the pass behind gronk?, who appears to be the intended target.

So it would still have been an incomplete-forcing a punt.

Prisco also cited Manning's ability to limit turnovers lately as a reason his intelligence was superior to Brady's. Manning had 17 interceptions in 10 games this season, while Brady had seven in 16.

Lately apparently = this past weekend, when Brady also didn't have any turnovers.

Because he sure as hell can't mean this season, when he led the league in picks per game by a ****ing mile.

Apparently winning 3 Super Bowls by a field goal is now a bad thing. Losing one on a pick-six and losing another 43-8, though? That's fine.

****, the only ring that Manning won, he was carried to despite subpar quarterbacking by a dominant defense. The one claim that people have been using for years to diminish Brady is actually true of Manning: without a dominant D, he would have won nothing for his entire career.

Without the pumped in noise, some horrendous PI calls and non-calls, the flu and a bad spot, and he wouldn't even been able to HAVE the 2nd worst QB stats for a winning QB in a superbowl.

Wow, Prisco yet lives? Last I heard was him bragging how Patriot fans clicking his CBSsportsline articles made him rich.

Interesting note: The 4 games I cited are the only playoff games where Brady has not scored a TD. In the meantime, Manning has failed to score a passing TD in 5 playoff games, and he's lost 3 of those 5 games. So, Manning doesn't have the excuse of "We were winning and we ran it in."

Scores when Manning threw no TDs:
16-19 (l) - ran for a TD
0-41 (l)
3-20 (l)
15-6 (w)
23-16 (w)

Scores where Brady threw no TDs:
16-13 (w)
24-17 (w)
32-20 (w)
43-22 (w)

Again, that's supposed to somehow be in Manning's favor.

Not to mention that dominant D faced the massive task of defeating the future HoF QB Rex Grossman and a juggernaut Chicago team. He had 5 TD passes in that game, right?
