I honestly think this idea is overblown. If that was the case, he would've been released a lot sooner than he was. Instead, he made it until the final cuts.

And they have his jersey up in 'The Hall' at Patriots Place, if that counts for something.

Agree with Froob, aside from him being late for a meeting I haven't heard anything about Gray and the organization having an issue with each other.

I doubt Gray refuses a spot on an active roster under any circumstance. Being on the practice squad of a 5-7 team is probably not career-enhancing.

His abilities are likely sufficiently one dimensional that the Pats don't want him. There aren't many defenses like the Colts out there.

If the Pats wanted to dig in the archives, they could just as well pick up the phone and call the Law Firm. And no, I don't see that happening either.

Maybe his getting a grand total of 24 carries in the final 7 games of his Patriots career immediately following his 201 yd 4 td game would be a hint?

Their is something to be said for having Patriots playbook knowledge.
