Bolden is one of the most underrated players on the roster.
He is a VERY HIGHLY rated SPECIAL teams player....this is TRUE! He has shown that he is a MARGINAL running back for the Pats.....we need another option....bring back Jonas Gray!

Doesn't mean it's not hard. Most of these guys were at least part of a team's training camp. Thomas hasn't played any football, practice or live, since last season. I can't really say I'm surprised that he was sore. How far away he is from football shape is the key here.

Players who've had a lot of time off generally need time to get up to speed. Anyone who's played sports understands this.

I'm not suggesting Bolden is the answer, but I also think he's not as bad as many think.

FWIW, career averages for rushing and catches below:

Lewis: 4.8, 10.5
Bolden: 4.4, 7.1

Other Patriots of note:
Vereen: 4.2, 9.4
Woody: 4.4, 9.9
Faulk: 4.2, 8.6

Other options:
Cadet: 3.4, 7.5
Thomas: 4.6, 8.0

Bolden hasn't had many opportunities, but he's done a pretty decent job when he has gotten the chance. He's caught 30 passes in 44 targets, catching 68% of his targets. Vereen has caught 69% of his, while the other Patriots backs were all around the 74-77% range.

And several other backs in his draft year have taken some time to get on track. Lamar Miller is still a bit inconsistent, but broke the 1,000 yard mark last season, while Ronnie Hillman was just beginning to emerge for the Broncos this season.

Again, not saying go pick up Bolden in your FF leagues or anything like that. But I think he's highly under-rated, and he's really nowhere near as bad as many seem to think.

Why? He doesn't do a single thing that Lewis does. He'd just end up sitting behind Blount again.

I do wish devlin hadn't gotten hurt

Show me a player who was out for over a year who managed it.. Because that is what you're looking at with Thomas. And before you say Dion Lewis, he wasn't in GAME shape when he got to the team..

Spectacular job at missing the point. He chose to be out since March and is therefore out of shape. If he's not injured his heart is clearly not in the game anymore.

*ROFLMAO* You say that I'm missing the point, but you are the one talking out your bung hole.
Thomas was RELEASED by the Saints in March. That wasn't his choice. That was the Saints' choice. Thomas had numerous workouts in the off-season while trying to find a team. He worked out for the Texans, Chiefs, and Jets. Can you say for 100% certainty that he got a contract offer and chose not to sign with someone and, instead, chose to sit at home?

His being out of football shape has everything to do with him not finding a team to hook on with for 7+ months. Claiming that his heart isn't in it is more BS speculation on your part.

So, no. I didn't miss the point. I recognized that your "point" was total and complete crap. Now you are scrambling to try and CYA but only making yourself look more foolish because you just don't know what you are talking about.

OK, sport, if you say so. If he's choosing to sit at home, is unemployed for several months and turns up out of shape when he finally finds a job I'm sure he has a burning desire to continue his professional career. That's a very reasonable assumption.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

WOW. You clearly have a problem understanding plain english. These are the facts, not my opinions. What you are spewing is conjectured BS.
1) Pierre Thomas did not CHOOSE to sit at home. He was released by the Saints.
2) Pierre Thomas was working out in Chicago and staying in physical shape (different than football shape) for the months he was unemployed.
3) Pierre Thomas had several workouts for teams, but was not offered a contract until the 49ers came calling.
4) There is a huge difference between being in shape and being in Football shape. You can't practice being in football shape. That comes from the repetitions you get during practices and during games..

Point 1 means it wasn't his choice to be unemployed.
Points 2 and 3 blow up your idea that his heart wasn't in it and that he was out of shape.
Point 4 is there because you clearly don't understand that there are different types of shape you can be in.

Pierre Thomas, Texans unable to agree on contract - NFL.com

"Thomas visited the Texans on Wednesday, but the two sides were unable to agree on a contract, according to Thomas' agent Lamont Smith."

Texans And Pierre Thomas Can't Agree On Terms For Contract

The Houston Texans seemed to be all set to add Pierre Thomas to their roster after losing Arian Foster for some time to a groin injury. While reports came out from multiple places Wednesday morning saying the Texans were going to sign Thomas after a successful workout, Thomas’ agent tweeted just before noon Wednesday the team and player could not agree on terms of a contract.

Well, OK. You must be right. I look forward to all the stellar performances forthcoming from Mr. Thomas as the season progresses.

See my previous message.

No need. You had to be either clueless or trolling, and your response made it clear which it was. Only someone clueless or trolling would ignore the fact that Thomas missed training camp and preseason along with much of the regular season, particularly given the history of Patriots players coming back from extended absences.
