We're on to the Giants

This is the first time I have said this all year.... This game is about the offense making plays.

I believe our D even on a bad day can hold the Giants under 30 even on their best day.

The offense though has a lot of reasons to come out and not do what they should do which is pick apart a very weak Giants D. It all comes down to the OL. If they block we win and it is not close.

Are you sure about McD being stubborn that day?? Seemed to me at the time that the Pats tried an awful lot of things and none of them worked other than short passes to Welker. I'm not sure what you expected McD to do, but the running game was stuffed, the screen game as well, they couldn't block Justin Tuck so there was not enough time for things to develop downfield, and the Giants controlled the clock for much of the game.

In the 4th qtr around the 10 minute mark BB yelled at McD to "Get his head in the game" and shortly there after is when we finally moved the ball and scored the go ahead TD.

The Giants offensive production of (points):26 20 32 24 30 7 27 against powerhouses like Dallas, Skins, 49ers, Eagles, Falcons, Bills.
On Defense the Giants holding the potent Colin Kap led 49er juggernaut offense to 27 was an especially strong effort. And holding the mighty Skins to 21 and the unstoppable Falcons to 24 was a sight to see.
No way the Patriots average of almost 35 per game on offense and 16 allowed on D can't cope with this!

Some of you need to get a grip. Almost everything about this game points to a Giant dismissal of Eli and company. Why anyone would seriously think otherwise runs counter to just about every 2015 metric except ESPN's 2015 Chicken Little Rating System (aka CLRS :))

I see your point with regards to what numbers show but they have our number and this could easily be a tight game going to them.

I hope we get bad eli. He's hot and cold.

You have to force Eli to be bad Eli. Put some pressure in his face and hit the inbred and he'll serve up a pick or two. That was the problem with the 2011 team. 30-40 means that you didn't force Eli to do much except stay patient while he picked you apart.

The Giant's ruin my ability to analyze a game objectively. I'm like a puppy that's been whipped on the nose so often that I instinctively duck away from any extended hand no matter how kindly intentioned. Paradoxically, the ****tier the look, the more fearful I become. I hate the f***ing team.

Where can I see this footage?

As of early Monday night the Pats are now 7-point favorites over NYG, with some places at -7½ points.

Before Sunday's games the Patriots were 6½-point favorites.

I agree. They better get pressure on eli on
sunday. Can't let him sit in the pocket

Probably would have been -14 by now if not for the Lewis news.... :(

The fact that the Patriots have the potential making of a legitimately elite defense this season has me looking optimistically at every game this season.

Its telling brady shares a familiar sentiment about giants on radio today. Seems like for a change the giants are mentally in brady's head. He wants this bad.

if he has time to throw to beckham, randle, donell or harris then it could be trouble.

You said it, I get mad losing to them in preseason games:mad::mad::(

The Patriots have the Giants number in the regular season. In the Kraft era the Patriots are 4-1 vs the Giants in the regular season. Ok, if we get to the SB and the Giants are there then it's time to panic, find a ledge, build a pillow fort and get in it, find the nearest college campus safe space. Otherwise history says the Giants will lose.

FYI, the lone regular season loss to the Giants in the Kraft era was Nov. 2011. It is where Brady had 2 ints (his total for the first 8 games of 2015) as well as the Patriots fumbling the ball away twice. The Giants scored a TD in the last minute against arguably(?) the worst D the Patriots ever fielded in the last 14 years. With all due respect to 2011 and the exciting season it was, the fact that we were in position to win the SB over the Giants if WW makes the most important catch of his lifetime is frigging astonishing.

That regular season game saw important D contributions from Kyle Love, Gary Guyton, Josh Barrett, Andre Carter, Phil Adams, James Ihedigbo, Tracy White (again, how the F did we get soooo close to win the SB??). All love for these guys who gave it their all, but comparing them to 2015 D is silly.

Our D now is markedly better on the DL, at LB, even at secondary (our secondary was appalling in 2011), with pass rush a notable major difference. Gost is a better kicker and STs are overall better. 2015 Brady is a better QB (IMHO), Gronk is a better TE, JE is >= 2011 WW, LaFell much better than 2011 Branch, DA much better than anyone left at WR in 2011 (urgh-Chad Johnson). But to be fair to 2011 -- The Prisoner > Chandler though Dobson > than whatever else there was at WR). IMHO Blount is > than BJGE/Ridley (though it is arguable), but 2011 had Woodhead, where we have lost Lewis (too bad about Lewis as he was showing he was > than Woodhead but I liked Woodhead and wish we had him now).

Another important point: the Giants 2011 were 6-2 coming into the Patriots game. They are 5-4 now. Stats say the 2015 Giants < 2011 Giants.

So come on brother, "they have our number" is along the lines of 'I saw a black cat before the game' or 'I walked under a ladder' or 'spilled the salt'. It's silly given the last matchup was 4 years ago. The Patriots are clearly the better team and are likely to win, period. Sure, any given Sunday is always in effect but that doesn't change that the Giants are not on the Patriots level despite, ahem, games played 4 years ago and 8 years ago.

Bottom line: as long as we do/execute what we do routinely and the Giants do/execute what they do routinely, we will very likely win this game.

The Giants are 32nd in Yards Allowed, 31st in Pass Yards Allowed, 32nd in 3rd Down % allowed, 32nd in sacks (Chandler Jones himself has more than the entire Giants team) and 19th in points allowed.

This will be, by far, the worst defense the Patriots play all year. If they can't beat the Giants, they're going nowhere in the playoffs.

Thanks Brother TD for the stats I was too lazy to look up :). I was rolling most of the stats in my post off from memory -- forgiveness for any errors -- so your hard stats really drive the point home that the Giants are just not on the Patriots level.

It is possible that the Giants D will show a FAR greater pass rush, show a FAR better coverage ability for Gronk, JE, LaFell, DA, Chandler (I think he is a hidden gem), whoever the backfield option is (Bolden/White/Blount) being thrown to by the far best QB in the NFL, the Giants' offense 21st rank for yards per game will be much better (I looked up a few stats :)) can win this for them. The Patriots may also commit more TOs than normal and penalties/bonehead errors more than normal.

But, as one can clearly see, quite a few things that statistically don't normally happen will need to happen for the Giants to win. Possible but clearly not likely...

lol @ people who irrationally fear this team

People so snakebitten by the Giants....Yes, they beat us in the Super Bowl twice, both crushing losses, but they both were by a total of 7 points....It's not like they destroyed us.

In 2007, they were tough no doubt. In 2011 they arguably had a better team, they just under achieved in a tougher NFC. But this year it's not even close.

They just lost their best DT, got one of the worst secondaries in the NFL and their O-Line is mediocre at best.

This game will be a blowout.
