Between the PUPpies and a hypothetical trade CB, a few roster slots will likely need to be found soon. Who will vacate them?

My second candidate is Dobson, but only after LaFell proves he won't have an injury relapse. My first candidate is King, who got 2 penalties in the Colts game. And in case somebody wanted to trade for Wilson, with King potentially taking his roster spot -- I don't think that happens now that Brown is gone. As fungible as the DBs are, Wilson is DB depth.

This is the most talented bottom of the roster I've ever seen.

Some people may view him as worthless, but I think Dobson could be used as trade bait

Not that his value is super high or anything, but perhaps apart of a package deal with a draft pick for a CB or T

If they could get anything more than a conditional 7th I'd be shocked. Sorry, he has no value. He's been inactive for a guy the Texans couldn't drive to the airport fast enough three weeks ago.

Khyri Thornton has to be in the discussion. The 5-man DT rotation against the Colts was a lot more bodies than we're used to seeing there, and Thornton wasn't one of them. The timing of his signing sure seemed like somebody was trying to sign him away, so maybe the Pats could get a very small something in return. If not, I think they might be comfortable enough with Hicks' addition to let Thornton go sign with somebody else.

In order of expendability
1. Dobson- JE, DA, JoJo, Martin are there now.
2. Thornton- Branch, Seal, Easy, Brown and Hicks are there now. Even Chris Jones might be screwed here.
3. Tavon Wilson-DMC, Harmon, Chung, Richards, Ebner are there. Personally I think Wilson is better in the secondary than Ebner but not sure of Slater's status.
4. King-See above

The rest? Beats me. They might need to cut more.

Yeah, I'm afraid you're right. I was thinking when he had his decent game that they would maybe try to string a couple together like that to increase his value, but clearly not the case.

The Pats clearly went WR shopping the one year in the last 3 where it was a crummy WR class. Oh well.

I didn't see any penalties on King, who has quickly become a ST monster (and will be needed if Slater goes IR). McCourtey had a couple, including that block in the back call on Edelman's big punt return.

Nate Ebner Tavon Wilson shouldnt buy any houses anytime soon.
Siliga has been ineffective.
Dobson is a enigma
Jerod Mayo most likely to be traded.

dobson's pats career is over now that lafell is back.
too bad..

They don't have to start his three-week practice window until Week 9, and then if need be, they may just put him on IR.

Brandon King took a penalty for Illegal Block in the Back on Edelman's 11 yard punt return and a False Start on a Punt with 5:20 remaining in the game. He also only had 2STs tackles, not as was reported..

Nate Ebner is arguably the 2nd most important Special teams player behind Slater. As CTPatsfan mentioned, he's never been a healthy scratch (which Wilson has) but he's also the Personal Protector on the punt unit. Why people like yourself insist on trying to cut him is beyond comprehension.

As for Siliga, he's been more effective than you give him credit for..

Thanks for the penalty update. Despite his recent activation, King has 4 ST tackles, which is more than Ebner's 3.

ST King, Ebner, Slater (IR), WR Dobson, DL Thornton, DL/LB Johnson. If roster spots get tight, ST/S Wilson, RB White could be in trouble.

The guy I'm worried about is Chris Jones. Jones has been a very versatile and effective rotational DT the last few years, but in the just the last few months the team has added Malcolm Brown and Akeem Hicks as well as Thorton at the position and right now its the deepest area of the entire team. Jones could be in trouble

Just an opinion it could be wrong

When your team is 5-0 and have been able to play rookies along the OL to protect your franchise HOF QB...I'd say they are pretty deep...word is Cannon's injury isn't thought to be serious. Fleming's promotion was key this past week.....

There is more to playing STs than just getting tackles. Ebner is out there as the Personal Protector on the punting unit. That precludes him from getting tackles on that unit, but it's a vitally important position.

Ebner was also the first one to recognize the 1st on-side kick and started yelling for the changes in coverage. This was noted by Jeff Howe.. Ebner was also out there on the punt coverage unit and relaying the changes on SNAPFU..

Yes, but any time missed cuts into the depth of the O-line. The Pats will be forced to add an OT to the roster. Be it Causell from the practice squad, someone from the street, or via trade.
