If nothing else at least it got Tim Benzs panties in a twist.

Last May he sent a text where he used the nickname "deep dish"

I wonder what the refractive index is for an armband compared to a phone case.

I always thought reflection was a special case of Snell's law where the light rays bounce off the material, which because they're going back into the initial medium always means the angle of incidence will equal the angle of refraction to add to a 90degree angle. Maybe there are some material properties in the amount of light that is reflected based on how much light there was from the stadium lights and how much exposure there is from the camera, but that's outside my deteriorating grasp of optics.

Anywho, I'm pretty sure that's an armband. No reason to sick the MIT grad students on the problem.

phone.jpg yup, a wrist band with volume buttons on the side. Nothing to see here.

Just got here and have no idea what it is. To me it's irrelevant because the Pats are focused on proving their worth on the field. I truly hope the soap opera is over and we can focus on football. Anyway, if they were trying to cheat they suck at it since they lost. I'm glad they lost but they lost because they suck and failed to beat an even suckier team. Life is good.

That reminds me, I wonder if they ever made a new rule about eating on the sidelines after Sanchize was caught eating a hot dog. One of the most gangster acts I've ever seen after beating down a team to sit there like you don't give a ****. Gotta respect Marky for that.

This thread is kinda dumb. Some of you guys need to get a grip even if you are just "joking around" (dubious). If a fan from another team came here and saw this you'd look like a bunch of lunatics

LOL . . . oh goodness, the drunken maniac hillbilly yinzers will find us uncouth.

Is it a big deal that a guy not even playing checks his cell phone? If anyone makes a big deal out of this, it will just propagate that these ticky tacky rules are silly and arbitrary.

(sigh) Like a pound of air.
Is it a big deal that 12 balls lost air in a cold weather game? I mean nobody ever cared about psi before and if anyone makes a big deal out of this they'll have to implement a whole new process and will propagate ticky tacky silly arbitrary rules.

I don't care if the Steelers are fined or not (If I were Cleveland though I sure as hell would feel differently.) For me the point is the NFL is lying. Don't talk about integrity and lie to my face.

Has to be a reflection. And cell phone screens don't reflect light.

I was just kidding. We rely on refractive and reflective indexes to test quality issues with DVD's or CD's.

I believe it was an armband as well although the initial pictures had me wondering if it was a cell phone.

"But...but he destroyed his phone. So he must be guilty". Don't fall for the slide of hand. That was a still made to make him look like he is holding a cell phone. Framed if you will.

I don't see a phone, just a black thing that bends.

Nope. Just butthurt.
Honestly, I could give a rat's ass what other teams think of the Patriots or its fans. I'm well past that ever since they called us cheaters and demand asterisks by Patriots SB wins.

Upon review Roethlisberger sent a text referencing a "QB sneak" two years ago, therefore he participated in a scheme to sneak his personal device onto the sidelines. He is suspended 4 games and the Steelers are fined $1m and a first and fourth round pick.

Yep....After several hours, it was determined by patsfans.com that Ben was not texting or using a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge but in actually was using a rather thick armband which did have a condensed playbook in it.

Nothin To See Here! Its wasn't Brady so NO STORY.

Snell's law isn't normally used that way, but the explanation is fine except for that boldfaced part.

The angle of incidence = the angle of reflection (as measured from the normal, i.e., a 90° angle to the surface).
