Patriots cut RB Travaris Cadet to make room for LB Bostic

I guess we'll never "see what Cadet can do" in this offense.

Demoted to Cub. :) Interesting, but you can only wait so long. Or maybe BB doesn't even want to wait.

Would like another back on the roster or the practice squad. Three is a bit thin on the position.

I really didn't expect this team to carry 3 receiving backs on the roster. Surprised he lasted this long.

White looked good last week. There really isn't a point to a 3rd string receiving back or a less than mediocre depth WR.

In the end our two youngest, highest upside players won the receiving back jobs. Glad Reggie Bush chose San Fran.

I never really saw anything in him that Lewis or White couldn't provide. He belongs somewhere in the league, just not really here.

Lewis, Blount, a reserve with upside, and a blah 4th guy who's an excellent ST contributor. Seems like an OK group of RBs to me, given that it's a position group where the Pats have chosen to skimp on resources invested.

I don't even know how he made the 53

I don't think cutting Cadet is an indictment of him or his health at all. Veterans like him are brought in to establish a floor, so that if White doesn't progress and/or Lewis doesn't come out of nowhere, there's a fallback option that doesn't leave us without a 3rd down back.

Luckily, Lewis has won a prominent role in the offense and succeeded beyond anyone's expectations, while White has looked good when given the opportunity. With both of them playing at the level that they're at, Cadet becomes a pure depth luxury that we don't need.

I wish him the best, and think he can go and contribute somewhere. There are plenty of teams that can use him, and I bet he'll find a home much like Woodhead did after we moved on from him. Wouldn't shock me if the Saints want him back. They have no passing game, need whatever they can get, and Spiller's health has been predictably iffy. Even if Spiller is healthy from here on out, they could still use both.

I was always curious what Cadet would bring to the team....but with how young White is and how amazing Lewis has been, he was bound to be the odd man out.
Lewis actually just turned 25 a few days ago so he is young as well. I think Lewis is just scratching the surface of what he can be.

I expect this upcoming draft we will address the bigger back with Blount getting older.

Great post FTW, you nailed it. Cadet wasn't a disappointment the other younger backs exceeded initial expectations.
